JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and data integrity of the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Department's energyENGINE data warehouse. The role operates within a high-performing, collaborative technical team and plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable program performance, participation. and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include overseeing data upload processes, facilitating coordination with internal and external stakeholders to maintain data quality, supporting regulatory and financial reporting through data reconciliation and compliance activities, performing alignment checks between operational and financial records, and managing automated energy savings calculations.

This position reports to the Manager, EEP IT Projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• A four-year college degree (computer science, accounting, or business degree preferred) or equivalent work experience is required
• Experience in relational database systems including Oracle and/or SQL Server is preferred
• Experience with the Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) platform is preferred
• Programming experience using SQL, T-SQL, Python, R is desired
• Experience with customer relationship management (CRMs) platforms such as Oracle and/or Salesforce is desired
• General understanding of various technical principles, theories, and concepts
• Broad understanding of a wide range of technical areas
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex or technical ideas into non-technical language
• Additional technical skills including Excel (intermediate proficiency), Visio, SSRS/SSIS is a plus

• 1-3 years' experience in utilities or a related analytical/technical field
• Foundational experience in data analysis and supporting process improvement efforts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Working knowledge of SQL, VBA, Python, R
• Ability to perform data extraction, validation, and basic analysis within established processes
• Developing understanding of systems, data structures, and business processes

Level 4 (Business Analyst II)
• 3-5 years' experience in utilities or a related analytical/technical field
• Proven experience independently analyzing data and leading process improvement initiatives
• Experience working within regulatory frameworks and understanding industry standards
• Ability to lead and manage moderately complex analytical or modeling efforts to drive business insights
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools, including Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
• Strong technical experience (3-5 years) with tools such as SQL, T-SQL, Python, R, or similar platforms
• Ability to work across systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions with minimal oversight

Level 5 (Senior Analyst)
• 5+ years of experience in utilities or a related analytical/technical field
• Demonstrated expertise leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and system enhancements
• Deep experience designing and implementing data processes, standards, and best practices
• Provides oversight and guidance on high-impact decisions affecting data integrity, reporting, and compliance
• Strong experience influencing stakeholders across departments and managing vendor relationships
• Advanced technical expertise with data, systems, and analytical tools used to drive scalable solutions
• Proven ability to drive innovation, improve processes, and implement long-term system and data strategies
• Experience building and updating ETL processes using SSIS and/or other ETL-related software

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Acumen:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality
• Develop methods to evaluate and validate results
• Apply quantitative analysis to support decision-making
• Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills
• Oversee the 1099 reporting process, including data loading and reconciliation between energyENGINE and the 1099 STARS database to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Perform detailed reconciliation of project data against implementation contractor invoices to ensure alignment between operational and financial records
• Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Engagement:
• Ensure tasks and deliverables are completed on time to minimize business impacts
• Lead bi-weekly meetings with internal teams and external partners to review file status, monitor record integrity, and drive resolution of outstanding data issues
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and timely delivery
• Support vendor management activities, including reconciliation, feedback, and system coordination
• Consistently engages with Energy Efficiency Department to strengthen communication and support business needs
• Collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Oversee the elements of vendor management for the Energy Efficiency IT department and serve as the central point person between various operational functions and cross-functional teams to carry out various activities including, but not limited to reconciliation/auditing, feedback, system configuration, etc.

Functional Expertise:
• Administer and maintain Salesforce, including user setup, configurations, and enhancements
• Manage the PUP (Project UPload), ensuring invalid records are promptly identified and resolved through coordination with internal and stakeholders while upholding strict data quality standards
• Manage SharePoint environments, including permissions and site development
• Manage automated energy savings calculations and financial tracking for the energy efficiency programs
• Develop and execute SQL queries to support reporting and data analysis
• Design and implement data analytics and visualization solutions (e.g., Power BI)
• Support system development lifecycle activities (design, testing, deployment)
• Manage and support platforms such as STARS, Acoustic/IBM Watson/Silverpop, and Smartsheet
• Provide technical solutions for complex data and reporting challenges

Driving Results:
• Deliver recommendations for system and process enhancements
• Conduct periodic security and audit reviews
• Support system implementations and technology initiatives
• Develop reports and dashboards for KPIs and performance metrics
• Lead or support special IT and data-related projects
• Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and independent execution
• Drive adoption and value realization. Define success metrics, oversee pilots, and guide scaling of technical solutions across operating companies
