Job DescriptionThe Office of Educational Supports is an office within the Division of Assessment, School Improvement, and Systems Support. OES provides support to local education agencies, including PSAs, to develop and implement programs and services funded with supplementary Federal or State funds to accelerate student achievement through continuous improvement and close achievement gaps for the most at-risk students. OES supports MDE policy development on a range of issues, including research-based strategies to support learning, equitable educational experiences, supports for school turnaround, the closure of achievement gaps, coordination of services, and tools for instructional techniques to increase learning.
The Office of Educational Supports is staffed by an assigned team of region-based consultants who are stationed across the State of Michigan. The purpose of the Education Field Services Consultant position is to provide local school districts with technical assistance and ongoing support related to Federal grant programs to support student academic achievement. Two positions are available in the regional team 5 service area in Metro Detroit.
Applicants may refer to the map to identify the area of the state that regional team 5 serves. The service area assigned within a team may vary based on operational needs. The Office of Educational Supports is staffed by a group of education field services consultants who are located in different regions of the state.
STAFF WHO WORK IN THIS AREA MUST RESIDE IN OR LIVE CONTIGUOUS TO THE REGIONAL AREA WHERE THEY WORK FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT. Position Summary - The regional consultant provides services to an assigned region* for school improvement initiatives, with a focus on student achievement. Responsibilities of the position include federal (and a small number of state) program desk audits, application review and approval, monitoring visits, technical assistance to school districts (with an emphasis on coordination of federal programs), consultation on resources and initiatives, and assistance in obtaining specialized services to meet program development needs. The regional consultant works with intermediate school districts, other educational agencies, and community organizations to promote collaboration and networking to meet local needs. Consultants are grouped in larger collaborative regions to expand networking opportunities and facilitate teamwork. This position includes work in collaborative teams with leadership responsibilities for one or more office initiatives, projects or programs including presentations and professional development for school personnel.
