**This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA**Office of Teaching & Learning - Diverse Learners Job Focus AreaThe Division of Diverse Learners serves as the program office focused on students with disabilities (SWDs) and English Learners (ELs) and the statewide strategy to improve outcomes for these populations. The structure of the Department delineates the program team (Diverse Learners) from monitoring team and fiscal oversight team as those responsible for this work are located in the Division of Federal Support. As a result, the Diverse Learners team has the opportunity to intentionally coordinate with the Office of Teaching and Leaming, Office of Career and College Readiness, Local Education Agencies, and their staff in order to raise the achievement of Diverse Learners.
The Education Consultant 4 Is located in the Division of Diverse Learners within the Office of Teaching and Learning and reports to a classified Executive Director of Diverse Learners. The Chief of Staff and Program Manager will play a critical role in supporting the executive team by serving as the state expert on gifted and talented programming, managing key projects, overseeing operational efficiency, overseeing budget activities and ensuring alignment with strategic goals. This position requires a background in special education, a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a knack for program management and multitasking.
Minimum QualificationsEight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:The desired candidate can expect to do the following:- Supports the Division Chief with the day-to-day operations and priorities of the division.
- Helps organize and coordinate division projects, meetings, events, and deadlines. Including the preparation of meeting agendas, talking points, reports, presentations, and other materials.
- Attends meetings on behalf of the Division Chief and takes notes or communicates follow-up actions as needed.
- Helps answer questions, resolve routine issues, and connect people with the appropriate staff member or resource.
- Helps coordinate communication within the division and across other offices and departments.
- Assists with planning and coordinating professional learning, conferences, meetings, and other division activities.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for gifted and talented education questions and support.
- Provides guidance and assistance to school systems and educators regarding gifted and talented programs and services. Including the development and maintenance of guidance documents, resources, presentations, and other materials related to gifted and talented education.
- Helps monitor the implementation of gifted and talented education requirements, policies, and initiatives.
- Collects feedback from school systems and educators and uses that information to help improve resources and support.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group
Work Schedule: Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $31.25 hourly, $2500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
