Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ECMO staffing coverage and call schedules.
  • Ensure readiness of medical consumables and equipment through regular maintenance and restocking.
  • Provide ongoing training and education for team members and bedside RNs.
  • Collect and analyze performance data related to the ECMO Program.
  • Participate in National CVSL meetings to standardize practices and evaluate new technologies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to maintain financial data for the ECMO Program.

Full Job Description
Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Professional, you will provide highly specialized critical care and life support to patients with severe cardiac or respiratory failure, ensuring the optimal function of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation systems.Every day you will expertly manage ECMO circuits, monitor patient physiological parameters, troubleshoot technical issues, and meticulously collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver continuous, compassionate, and life-sustaining support.To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding clinical expertise, strong critical thinking skills, and a vigilant, calm demeanor, contributing significantly to positive outcomes for the most critically ill patients.
  • Staff: Develops and maintains a coverage schedule for ECMO Specialists, call schedule, etc. Coordinates with CVICU and Respiratory Care leadership in the development of said schedule.
  • Practice Environment: Maintain, stock, restock, ensure expiration dates, and ensure readiness for consumables, To Go Carts, and other equipment to ensure a state of continued readiness.
  • Education and Competencies: Provide on-going training and education for applicable team member, bedside RN classes, quarterly Wet Labs, etc. to maintain and develop staff competencies.
  • Quality: Collect, aggregate, and enter into applicable databases performance data around the ECMO Program. Conduct regularly scheduled Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  • One CommonSpirit: Participate in National CVSL meetings and collaborations to standardize polices, procedures, equipment, and consumables; and evaluate new and emerging technologies.
  • Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with Administrative Leadership and Finance to collect and maintain financial data and performance of the ECMO Program.
