Position Overview
The Drilling Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and monitoring of drilling and completion programs to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role requires close collaboration with operations and multidisciplinary teams to meet well objectives while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and oversee drilling and completion programs to ensure safe and efficient execution
  • Analyze offset well data to identify potential drilling hazards and risks
  • Develop well plans based on geological and reservoir objectives
  • Prepare cost estimates and evaluate design alternatives
  • Define and coordinate equipment and material requirements for drilling operations
  • Ensure well designs comply with applicable regulatory standards
  • Evaluate and analyze technical bids for goods and services
  • Monitor daily drilling operations and provide engineering support and recommendations
  • Perform rig site surveillance and assess critical drilling and completion activities
  • Support equipment testing, new procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency of well plans
  • Work cross-functionally with geology, reservoir, and project teams to align on objectives and execution strategies
  • Provide technical input for deepwater operations when applicable (including subsea systems, riser analysis, and well control systems)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering and/or drilling operations, including surveillance activities
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities in drilling engineering
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with both engineering and operations teams (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to work day or night shifts on a rotational schedule
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge in borehole management (e.g., hole cleaning, wellbore stability)
  • Experience with deepwater drilling operations
  • Familiarity with well design and planning software
