Job Summary
We are seeking a DNS Engineer to support and evolve enterprise DNS services that enable critical business applications across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role focuses on operational excellence, automation, resiliency, and modernization of the DNS platform, ensuring highly available, secure, and scalable name resolution services. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to operate in a high-availability enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain enterprise DNS infrastructure.
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and performance of DNS services.
• Manage DNS zones, records, and lifecycle activities across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Support incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
• Partner with network, security, and application teams to support business requirements.
• Develop and enhance automation for DNS provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Integrate DNS services with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and APIs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and technical debt.
• Contribute to DNS platform modernization initiatives, including hybrid and cloud DNS architectures.
• Implement DNS security best practices, including DNSSEC, logging, and monitoring.
• Support vulnerability remediation and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with security teams on threat mitigation and risk reduction initiatives.
• Work with cross-functional teams to support application onboarding and migration activities.
• Provide technical guidance and consultation to engineering teams.
• Participate in change management processes aligned with enterprise standards.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in DNS engineering or network infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of DNS fundamentals, including recursive versus authoritative DNS, resolution flow, and zone design.
• Experience with enterprise DNS platforms such as BlueCat, Infoblox, or BIND.
• Experience with automation technologies including Python, REST APIs, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, routing, and foundational network services such as DHCP and IPAM.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to cloud DNS services such as AWS Route 53, Azure DNS, or GCP DNS.
• Knowledge of DNS security concepts including DNSSEC, DDoS mitigation, and threat detection.
• Experience supporting large-scale, highly available environments.
• Understanding of enterprise change management, incident management, and problem management processes.
