Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care)

Schedule: Monday - Friday; must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed

Pay: $41.00 - $43.00 per hour
Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care) assists in the clinical leadership and daily operations of the Memory Care department. This position provides oversight of resident care, supports and supervises nursing staff, promotes regulatory compliance, and helps ensure the highest quality of care for residents living with dementia. The ideal candidate is an experienced nursing leader who is compassionate, organized, and committed to excellence in senior care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Memory Care department.
  • Ensure residents receive high-quality, person-centered care.
  • Conduct resident assessments and participate in care planning and family conferences.
  • Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee medication administration practices and clinical documentation.
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and supervising nursing staff.
  • Promote a positive team environment through leadership and ongoing staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacies, therapists, families, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.
  • Respond to resident emergencies and provide clinical support as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Nursing and General Manager regarding resident care, staffing, and operational needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with on-call responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare experience.
  • At least two (2) years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in assisted living or memory care.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Food Worker's Card (or ability to obtain).
  • Dementia care training and other state-required certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Strong clinical assessment, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with electronic health records and nursing documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and respond quickly to emergency situations.
