Position Description: The Director of Purchasing oversees the Division's purchasing operations managing all vendor relationships, supply chain, and processes for bidding, bid analysis, and vendor and supplier contracts.
This role supports the Texas divisions and must be based in the DFW market. Key Responsibilities: - Professionally manage, educate and grow the Purchasing Department team.
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategy.
- Manage bid process for architectural plans to subcontracts and vendors.
- Track and report key metrics to reduce expense and improve effectiveness.
- Forecast price and market trends.
- Perform cost scenarios analysis and benchmarking.
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Create budgets for upcoming projects and manage existing budgets and projects.
- Facilitate value engineering to ensure efficiency.
- Responsible or creating/reviewing costs vs actuals and variance reporting.
- Review plan and create/revise budgets for multiple new and ongoing projects.
- Manage trade partner agreements, scopes of work, insurance requirements, etc.
- Assist supplier and trade partners in resolving PO/partnership issues.
- Responsible for updating and managing PO system and related software.
- Track, collect and report on local or regional rebates.
- Manage design center selections to ensure proper products are showcased.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or Building Science.
- Five to eight years of related experience and/or training as Director of Purchasing, Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer.
- Proven experience with sourcing, negotiation and vendor management.
- Possess strong leadership skills and networking capabilities.
- Ability to effectively present information, respond, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency with MS Office
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:- Experience and knowledge with Newstar software.
- Prior management experience.
