The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. An exciting opportunity is available to join the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. This full-time outpatient position provides comprehensive pulmonary care in collaboration with physicians, APPs, nurses, respiratory therapists, and support staff.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ambulatory pulmonary care within both the Mary Parkes Center for Asthma, Allergy & Pulmonary Care and the Occupational & Environmental Lung Disease Program. Clinical responsibilities include the evaluation and longitudinal management of patients with general pulmonary disorders, asthma, chronic lung disease, occupational lung diseases, environmental exposures, and other respiratory conditions.

Primary responsibilities include obtaining comprehensive medical histories, performing physical examinations, developing differential diagnoses, formulating diagnostic evaluations, and implementing evidence-based treatment plans. The APP will provide patient education, coordinate multidisciplinary care, communicate recommendations to referring providers, and participate in ongoing disease management. Appropriate documentation in the medical record and timely response to telephone and MyChart inquiries are expected.

The candidate will work closely with pulmonary faculty and APP colleagues to support the clinical, educational, and quality missions of the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine in the outpatient setting. A structured orientation and onboarding period will be provided to facilitate development of specialty-specific knowledge and clinical expertise. Qualified candidates with prior leadership experience or a strong interest in leadership development may be considered for a Division Lead APP role as part of this position, though the leadership component is not necessary for the position.

This position requires excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills, as well as a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. The APP will also participate in the education and mentorship of learners, including students and new employees, through clinical teaching, knowledge sharing, and skills development.

Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State. Prior ambulatory pulmonary experience is preferred; however, motivated new graduates and candidates with relevant acute care or specialty experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
