General Functions:
Training and development managers that conduct and supervise development programs for employees, Leads, and Operational Management Teams. They assess where training is most needed, conduct the training, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training provided by trainers and supervisors.
• To enhance productivity and quality of work, for training to be widely accepted as a method of improving employee morale and as an opportunity to build loyalty to the organization.
• To update training as needed due to the increasing complexity of the work environment, the rapid pace of organizational and technological change, and the growing number of jobs in fields that constantly generate new knowledge.
• To create a culture where employees generally appreciate knowing that their employers are willing to invest in making sure they're as well-trained as possible, which gives them more career development opportunities
• To maximize existing training and onboarding platforms and processes to ensure a positive/improved onboarding, training, and follow-up throughout the training, permitting, and training process
Responsibilities:
• To train management to conduct on-the-job training for new and current employees.
• To develop sessions that help rank-and-file workers maintain and improve their job skills and possibly prepare for jobs requiring greater skills and promotions
• To evaluate the performance of tenured employees and set up individualized training plans to strengthen an employee's existing skills or to teach new ones.
• To train management to develop both hard skills and interpersonal skills, so they can deal more effectively with employees.
• To set up individualized training plans to strengthen an employee's existing skills or teach new ones. (repetitive)
• To work with Ops supervisors in each branch to ensure training is completed for Driver in Command biannually
• Include training on the Loomis system to explain why pick-ups and deliveries must follow a specific order to ensure accurate billing, precise research records, and proper PDA usage. Manage and conduct the following onboarding duties
• Interviews
• Follow-up calls to applicants for info/background
• "LTC" Training class • 40 Hour "In Cab" training
• Messenger training - assign and review process/booklet
• Maintain record-keeping for all training documentation
• Ensure that firearm training is completed according to local requirements
• Approve "graduation" of trainees to fully trained ASTs.
• Evaluate Leads and trainers for advanced knowledge, communications skills, and ability to train employees.
• Work with Ops supervisors in each branch to ensure remedial training is completed for Driver in Command biannually (repetitive)
• Work with Ops supervisors to ensure that the Risk Index and other PowerBI Risk reporting is properly maintained
Job Requirements:
• A valid firearms permit OR the ability to pass applicable firearms requirements per the state to which you are applying
• Excellent Communication skills: These skills will help you impart information and training to audiences made up of different backgrounds and personalities.
• Decision-making skills: These can be valuable in determining training programs to get the most out of staff.
• Leadership skills: Most training managers oversee staff engaged in a variety of responsibilities and duties and people management. You'll want to be able to motivate and teach them.
• Collaboration skills: You'll be working with trainees, other management, and experts.
• Experience: Five years or more
• College is preferred
• Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations is a plus
• Must be willing and able to travel throughout the District to include in between the states of Nevada, Oregon and California
