Job Summary

The OH UG Distribution Supervisor will supervise the workforce responsible for the installation and maintenance of underground and overhead transmission and distribution facilities in accordance with manufacture and company standards to maintain PSEGLI Safety Standards. This position reports to the Sr Distribution Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise OH/UG Lines bargaining unit employees on 24 hours/7 days a week operational basis. Understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements to be able to direct crew operations
  • Prepare reports for Sr Distribution Supervisor such as work schedules, pending work, unusual field or operating conditions or performance of equipment
  • On a rotating basis, performs stand-by duty in accordance with OH/UG Lines Department requirements
  • Perform safety inspections, effective operations inspections, accident investigations, etc. for area of responsibility
  • Evaluate tools and equipment used to perform job function


Job Specific Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 or more years' experience in the operation, design, maintenance and construction of electric transmission and distribution facilities
  • Knowledge of work rules, work methods, safety rules and line procedures associated with overhead and underground work
  • Supervisory experience and/or familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements to be able to direct crew operations
  • Able to evaluate performance of all assigned personnel as well as evaluate tools and equipment
  • Ability to work off-hours which may include working nights and/or weekends (approximately 400 hours per year)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history since this position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 compliance is required.

  • Applicants without T&D experience who possess a minimum of 4 years field supervisory experience of a union work force will also be considered.

As an employee of PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work extended hours beyond your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work on premise or in an alternate location as directed by the company.
