Become a Distribution Automation Software Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll work on the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of advanced automation software solutions, including FLISR, LVM, AFR and DERMS, within GMS/ADMS initiatives. Oversee projects from pilot through full-scale implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure technical excellence, operational readiness, and safety compliance. Serve as a subject matter expert in automation software, driving innovation through root cause analysis, and stakeholder engagement. As a Distribution Automation Software Engineer 2, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities 30;Performs inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/ trouble shooting, and overall improvements. 30;Ensures system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implements corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place. 30;Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. 30;Conducts independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. 30;Performs power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stays informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology. 30;Ensures the performance of day-to-day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards. 30;Helps ensure infrastructure's supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle. 30;Develops the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment. 30;Assists in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system functionality and quality of service to customers. 30;Acts as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle. 30;A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications 30;Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field. 30;Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. 30;Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications 30;Experience with distribution equipment, system design, operation, and analysis. 30;Experience in coding in Python. 30;Experience with power system analysis tools such as OMS, DMS/DSCADA, EMS, and CYME or similar software. 30;Experience in power system engineering analysis including knowledge of applicable laws, standards, and codes. 30;Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. 30;Proficiency in Microsoft Office application such as Excel, Power Point, Power BI, and Microsoft Power Apps. 30;California EIT certificate or Professional Engineer license. Additional Information 30;This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
