Full Job Description
JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

Director, Wealth Portfolio management is primarily responsible for all aspects of client engagement for asset management professionals and management of the Wealth Portfolio Management group. The Director manages and provides guidance on all aspects of asset management client engagement including retention and sales materials; appropriate communication points; and discussion of the firm's economic and market outlook. The Director, Wealth Portfolio Management is also responsible for ensuring appropriate account book sizes are maintained and the portfolio management assignment of new relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the development of methodologies for investment strategies and the ongoing process of reviewing and modifying existing methodologies.
  • Ensures our team has professional sales and retention presentation materials for all client engagement opportunities.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate account book sizes for portfolio management team.
  • Assists in asset management product development.
  • Helps in raising the visibility of HW Asset Management through planning and development of programs to write or speak about our firm and market and economic related topics to both internal and external audiences.
  • Meets with current and potential high net worth and industrial clients to discuss and determine an appropriate investment strategy and asset allocation for the client.
  • Executes strategies in accordance with the process, policies and procedures of the Wealth Management Group.
  • Makes investment decisions regarding security selection and asset allocation for client portfolios.
  • Evaluates, studies, and effectively communicates current economic and market conditions.
  • Formulates and reviews the investment process and change as conditions warrant.
  • Provides written and oral communication to clients, consultants, Bank management, the Hancock Horizon Funds' Board and others regarding investment strategy and results.
  • Audits accounts, records and certifications to ensure compliance of workers with standard procedures of Wealth Management.
  • Compiles and accurately reports all financial data as required by government regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the financial markets using fundamental and technical research to arrive at sound and timely investment recommendation.
  • Keeps abreast of legal and tax consequences of investment decisions.
  • Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws; Provides guidance and oversight to and is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the assigned team. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; associate compensation; approving expense reports; addressing concerns and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • 7+ years of investment and financial analysis experience.
  • A Chartered Financial Analyst or CIMA designation is preferred.
  • Requires an advanced understanding of trusts and investment products, strategies and markets.
  • Requires an advanced understanding of banking and investment regulations.
  • Requires advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite of products, Bloomberg Professional and Morningstar Direct


ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
