Summary

Smart Communications is expanding in healthcare as a strategic growth market and hiring a Healthcare Vertical Marketing Leader to help shape how we grow, where we play, and how we win. This Senior Manager role serves as the healthcare market expert and strategic advisor to Product Marketing, Sales, Demand Generation, Enablement, and Product-translating market opportunity into differentiated positioning, focused investment choices, and measurable business results.

The responsibilities of the role include:

Market Intelligence & Strategic Positioning

Lead healthcare market intelligence and strategic positioning by identifying market opportunities, priority segments, buyer personas, emerging trends, competitive threats, buyer priorities, and healthcare growth plays that inform our overall market strategy. Own healthcare-specific value propositions, ideal customer profiles, and messaging frameworks that differentiate Smart and guide investment, go-to-market focus, and executive engagement.

Sales Enablement & Sales Plays That Win

Develop, launch, measure, and optimize quarterly healthcare sales plays that improve pipeline creation, conversion, competitive wins, and seller confidence. Equip the field with battlecards, POV decks, objection handling, competitive intelligence, and executive-ready messaging that drive adoption and measurable sales effectiveness.

Campaign Support & Demand Generation

Play a significant role in shaping the healthcare marketing strategy by identifying where we play, which opportunities we prioritize, what messages we take to market, and where we invest to drive growth. Partner with Demand Generation and Campaign teams on messaging, briefs, insights, content, and events that improve engagement, pipeline, and conversion across priority programs and market moments.

Thought Leadership & Market Presence

Represent Smart Communications in healthcare through direct engagement with customers, prospects, partners, analysts, and industry influencers to validate messaging, gather market insight, and bring the voice of the customer into our go-to-market efforts. Build market visibility and thought leadership that strengthens credibility within the healthcare payer community and supports pipeline growth.

Launch Enablement & Product Translation

Translate launches, roadmap updates, and market shifts into healthcare-ready use cases, value stories, and launch kits that help the field sell effectively. Convert trends such as AI, automation, digital transformation, and cost optimization into differentiated positioning, thought leadership, and practical field guidance aligned to healthcare priorities.

Reporting & Strategic Recommendations

Deliver QBRs with concise business readouts on performance, market opportunities, pipeline trends, and competition, with clear recommendations on where to invest, accelerate growth, and correct course when needed.

What success looks like?
Success will be measured by business impact, market traction, and clear evidence that this Senior Manager is turning healthcare insight into growth:
  • Consistent contribution to healthcare pipeline creation and influence on bookings growth through targeted messaging, campaigns, and sales plays
  • Improved healthcare win rates and competitive performance in priority segments, including measurable support for competitive opportunities
  • Quarterly launch and adoption of healthcare sales plays, with clear evidence of field usage, seller engagement, and impact on conversion
  • Delivery of healthcare messaging, positioning, and enablement assets that are adopted by Sales, Demand Generation, and Product Marketing teams
  • Increased market visibility through customer engagement, partner collaboration, analyst interaction, events, and thought leadership contributions
  • Regular identification of new healthcare market opportunities, priority use cases, buyer needs, and competitive risks that inform investment and go-to-market decisions
  • Timely updates to messaging and positioning to reflect market, regulatory, product, AI, and digital transformation changes affecting healthcare buyers

Example scorecard measures may include: healthcare-sourced or healthcare-influenced pipeline, win-rate improvement in targeted segments, sales play adoption and usage, enablement asset utilization, competitive win support, analyst and event presence, and the number of actionable market insights translated into campaigns, positioning, or growth plays.

What we're looking for:
You bring strong strategic thinking, cross-functional influence, and hands-on execution in fast-growth B2B environments, with the ability to turn market insight into go-to-market action and business impact.

What stands out: Experience leading vertical or industry go-to-market strategy in B2B SaaS, connecting positioning and enablement to pipeline, win rates, and revenue outcomes; strong executive communication skills; and credibility in regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, financial services, or public sector. Ideal candidates bring both strategic perspective and the ability to work across teams to build messaging, shape plays, and support execution. Alternative consideration may be given to healthcare-focused industry analysts with strong payer expertise and network, or practitioners with recent experience leading successful digital or AI transformation initiatives within a major healthcare payer organization.

Background
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years in B2B SaaS product, industry, or solution marketing, with experience shaping strategy, influencing cross-functional teams, and delivering measurable go-to-market results
  • Relevant healthcare payer, strategy, practitioner, or analyst experience is also valuable

What's the deal?

We will provide you with the tools, equipment and support to give you the best possible chance of success and over-achieving your goals. Salary will depend on your experience and will be highly competitive.

In addition to a friendly, flexible and fun working environment, we provide a range of other benefits, including extensive health, dental and vision insurance, employer-funded health savings account, flexible spending plan, life and AD&D insurance, short and long term disability insurance, gym membership reimbursement, and 401K contribution, as well as 18 days' holiday allowance plus an additional day off on your birthday!

This role is fully remote with occasional travel required.
