Full Job Description
The Director, Transformation Engineering plays a pivotal role within our Transformation organization, building solutions that directly impact ABG's operations, decision-makers, and business results. This is both a hands-on technical role and a leadership role. You will hold the vision for your team's work: defining what gets built, why it matters, and how it should be architected, while leading a group of engineers through both the technical and scoping sides of delivery.

You will drive end-to-end development for some of the company's most critical business operations, working closely with business stakeholders to scope projects, guide your team through rapid prototyping, and oversee the path from proof-of-concept to full production deployment. This position is based at our World Headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.

What You'll Do:
  • Own the technical vision and roadmap for your team: determining what gets built, in what order, and why it matters to the business
  • Lead the scoping process: work with stakeholders to translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable project plans before development begins
  • Oversee the technical aspects of all builds across the team, ensuring solutions are architected soundly, delivered reliably, and held to a consistent engineering bar from prototype through production
  • Serve as the team's go-to expert on the technical platform, guiding best practices, unblocking engineers on complex platform issues, and staying current on new platform capabilities
  • Own governance and permissions across the platform, ensuring appropriate access controls, data security, and compliance with ABG's data classification standards
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of existing systems and tools, including troubleshooting and root-cause resolution

Perks You'll Get:
  • Access to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability insurance
  • Eligible to elect other voluntary benefits including: Group Auto Insurance, Group Home Insurance, Pet Insurance, Legal Assistance, Identity Theft Protection, FSA, Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, and additional life insurance coverages
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matched contributions
  • Full training to learn the business and enhance professional skills
  • Employee discounts, including discounted prices on the purchase of Avis/Budget cars
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program for services including counseling, financial and legal consultation, referrals for care service and more

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with ownership of technical direction for a team
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing or business-facing environment, with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and translate complex requirements into actionable plans
  • Experience architecting applications to collect, manage, and process large data sets efficiently, with a focus on performance and usability
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
  • Bonus: experience in consulting, forward-deployed, or hybrid engineering/business roles
  • Ability to travel to field locations 5-25% of the time

The annual starting salary for this position is between $160,000 - $200,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
