Position DescriptionDirects, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Additionally, this position is
not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.
Major/Essential Functions- Leads and supervises editorial team to ensure a highly collaborative environment where productivity is maximized and specifics goals, budgets, priorities and quality standards are met.
- Works closely with Director of Marketing, Creative Director, Managing Director for Marketing and Communications and Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
- Develops strategic communications plans to increase awareness about TTUHSC El Paso, TTP El Paso and TTDOHC's impact locally and regionally.
- Creates mission-specific pitches and stories to garner attention from national media and potential private funders.
- Oversees the content and production of the university's alumni magazine.
- Manages the editorial team's assignments, priorities, goals for projects and workflow.
- Remain current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
- Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of TTUHSC El Paso policies in regards to media announcements and marketing efforts.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience managing the content and production of a magazine; distributing editorial assignments to writers and editors; managing and monitoring deadlines for multiple editorial projects at the same time; communicating with internal and external stakeholders; working with vendors.
- Write for internal and external stakeholders at a local, regional and national level.
- Know AP style editing.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related area plus five years of progressively responsible management experience OR
- Combination of education and/or years of experience in management to equal a minimum of 9 years.
