Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring and staff education.
  • Prepare and evaluate departmental budgets to ensure compliance with funding.

How you’ll contribute

The Surgery unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. This is a 5-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. 

The Surgical Services Director directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. 
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Certifications:

Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
