Job Description:

J&J MedTech is strengthening the technology that supports its global supply chain, across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution and quality. The Director, Enterprise Architecture (Supply Chain) leads the architecture behind that work.

We work in partnership with Supply Chain business and technology leaders across MedTech. Our partners include Quality, Compliance, Information Security, Finance, Commercial, R&D and Data. We are also the architecture point of contact for vendors and implementation partners. The aim is a simpler, more consistent technology landscape.

The Director sets architecture direction for supply chain technology and leads a team of architects. The scope is global, spanning business, platform and delivery teams. This is a strategic advisor to Supply Chain leadership, shaping where technology investment goes. Come and shape it with us!

What you will do

Day to day, you will:

  • Define the multi-year target state for supply chain architecture across MedTech.
  • Own the business capability model and keep it aligned to the operating model.
  • Steer capability-based investment planning from that model.
  • Establish the principles, patterns and technology standards that guide delivery teams.
  • Chair the design authority, run architecture reviews, rule on exceptions and steer investment governance.
  • Lead architecture for ERP modernization, warehouse management, planning and manufacturing execution.
  • Set the digital manufacturing direction with the business units: smart manufacturing, OT/IT convergence, industrial data platforms.
  • Shape supply chain data architecture with the Data domain: data strategy, master data, digital thread, governance alignment.
  • Design transition states that keep platform and product roadmaps coherent as priorities change.

The role also sets technology roadmaps, platform strategy and vendor evaluation, and backs product owners on rationalization. On AI and emerging technology it advises: spotting opportunities, working them into roadmaps, holding them to enterprise standards and pointing to the future-state options worth taking.

Integration runs through all of it, from shop floor systems out to suppliers and logistics partners. Security, resilience, data integrity and regulatory requirements belong in the design from the start, in close partnership with Information Security, Quality and Compliance.

Leading the team sits at the heart of the role: coaching architects, balancing demand against capacity, and shaping the skills the team needs as the work evolves. Mentoring reaches beyond the team into the wider architecture community.

What we are looking for

This role calls for a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, supply chain management or a related technical field, plus a minimum of 10 years in enterprise, domain or solution architecture. Global-scale knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing technology matters, including SAP S/4HANA and digital manufacturing.

You will have led architecture on a large transformation program, from design through deployment, and built capability models that directed investment. Running governance should be familiar: standards, reviews and exceptions. So should data and integration design, across master data, APIs and event-driven patterns, along with manufacturing execution and OT/IT convergence. Experience developing technical colleagues counts, as does the confidence to explain complex trade-offs to senior leaders and build agreement across the business.

Preferred experience

Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing is welcome, as is exposure to acquisition integration or business separation programs. If this matches where you want to take your career, we would like to hear from you!
