Job Summary

The Director of Student Financial Services position is responsible for directing the activities of the Student Financial Services Office to provide comprehensive support to students, parents, University departments, donors, and other constituents conducting their financial affairs.

Essential Functions:
  • Directs all student financial services area functions in a multi-campus setting.
  • Coordinates the functions and operations of sponsored billing, cashiering, collections, financial aid disbursements, and student loan administration.
  • Directs the billing and accounting for student charges.
  • Develops, implements, and provides continuous assessment of future plans, objectives, goals, and the annual budget for the Student Financial Services office.
  • Coordinates with the Financial Aid Office for the disbursement of student aid and ensures compliance with the administration of the Title IV Loan program.
  • Handles all student, parent, administrator concerns, complaints, and issues related to functions and services of the Student Financial Services office.
  • Manage multiple contracts to ensure continuity of services and compliance with college procurement rules.
  • Identify professional development opportunities for SFS team members to ensure continual improvements to service and compliance.
  • Monitor accounts receivable collection returns and expenses and implements solutions for improved recovery of funds due the college.
  • Represents the Student Financial Services office at university, state, and regional meetings and alumni events.


Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, Accounting or related field.

2. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience and management in higher education or similar customer service and accounting operations.

3. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience preferably to include the supervision of staff at multiple locations.

4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to include experience preparing and presenting complex financial information to a wide range of audiences, either verbal, in writing and through oral presentations.

5. Demonstrated experience working with complex financial software systems (i.e. Ellucian Colleague, Banner, etc.) and experience working with advanced functions in Microsoft Excel.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

7. Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate institutional, State, and federal policies, procedures and regulations.

8. Demonstrated presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.

2. CPA.

3. Experience in a Higher Education setting.
