Job Description:Function & Scope:Reporting to the Vice President, Sponsored Programs Services & Regulatory Affairs (VP), the Director, Strategic Projects will lead the development of the SUNY Research Administrators Academy as well as leading or supporting on various strategic sponsored programs administration initiatives across the enterprise. In conjunction with the VP, the Director is responsible for development of sponsored program infrastructure for the SUNY sponsored programs enterprise.
Duties & Responsibilities:Job OverviewLead the planning and coordination of administrative and/or operational activities of substantial variety and complexity and support initiatives and projects for the Office of the President.
Launch a nationally credentialed academy for emerging leaders in Research Administration. The academy supports the development of next generation of professionals to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of the research enterprise.
Essential Functions- Lead a cross functional group to design and implement an enterprise-wide Research Administrator's Academy that includes a connection to SUNY's academic mission and a co-op experience.
- Participate in sponsored project initiatives across the SUNY enterprise with other RF central office departments.
- Design roadmap and milestones for assigned projects and events; assess and make recommendations regarding the development of operating processes, continuously update and improve processes, identify problems and recommend and implement solutions.
- Support coordination of sponsored programs related compliance toolkits for campus adoption.
- Research, draft, edit and prepare documents and reports.

Requirements:Education & Experience:- Minimum requirements include significant (10+ years) progressive experience working in sponsored programs management at a higher education institution.
- Experience working with faculty on grants administration or proposal development and submission is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency of Federal and State regulations pertaining to grants and contracts is essential; an understanding of policies and regulations of the Research Foundation for SUNY is highly desirable.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and actively engage in professional organizations.
Special Skills- Experience using a broad range of data sources to support senior RF and SUNY leadership.
- Demonstrated success working effectively with a broad range of constituents.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated capacity for high-level data analysis reporting.
- Experience translating data/findings into understandable text and graphics for a wide range of stakeholders, from administrators and faculty to political audiences and the general public.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
