What You Will Do:

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team in a pivotal role that supports superior client delivery and market growth. This position will play a key role in strategy design and execution across programs in support of state and local government clients across the State of North Carolina.


As part of the State and Local Government Practice, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with and across the Guidehouse organization, leveraging insights, solutions, and capabilities across solution groups, valuing their insights and expertise to drive delivery excellence and growth. Key activities include:

  • Connect and collaborate across Guidehouse, bringing connectivity and collaboration across the Guidehouse solution groups (technology, state health, community building, capital investments, etc.), solving challenges and helping to formulate strategies that drive growth and realize market opportunities.
  • Drive growth of strategic accounts: Oversee state client strategic account, including state agencies and local governments, including public safety organizations. Identify, strategically important relationships and opportunities to drive growth in accordance with annual targets.
  • Lead and drive execution: Shape the vision and strategy for delivery of client programs and engagements. Understand and monitor trends, requirements, capabilities, and limitations of clients to support design of client engagements that support business and technical transformation, aligns with client goals, and maintains profitability for Guidehouse. This includes overall management of quality for client programs.
  • Orchestrate Growth: Lead account strategy for the state and local government account, building relationships, identifying opportunities, bringing internal Guidehouse and external teaming partners to develop and capture growth. Managing quality control for project deliverables and work product consistent with Guidehouse quality requirements
  • Support Personnel Growth: Provide people management and mentoring of Guidehouse personnel, including regular feedback and coaching, monitoring of utilization and staffing, and performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Driving business development activities: Set the strategy and manage execution of business development activities, including RFP responses, proposal development, and peak account planning.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 10 + (TEN) years minimum of relevant work experience
  • Management consulting skills such as project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, process improvement and stakeholder management
  • Familiarity with State and Local Government structures, processes and network
  • Critical thinking to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to client's management and operational challenges
  • Proven abilities as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement andinnovation; participating in various staff recruitment and retention activities; and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback
  • Ability to 'quick start' account plan and target new business opportunities that support relevant practice development goals and objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing projects and junior & mid-level staff
  • Ability to travel to clients' locations, GH Office locations and as needed to support business development activities within and outside of the Charlotte, NC market and the State of North Carolina.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Evidence of history of client engagement with the within public sector in justice and public safety organizations
  • Master's Degree - MPP or MPA (including MBA or equivalent)
  • Experience managing challenging projects and serving clients
  • Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups
  • Experience with one more of the following areas: business process redesign, HR consulting, business case development, IT strategy and implementation

The annual salary range for this position is $179,000.00-$298,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
