Reporting to the Senior Director, Specialty Retail & Pharmacy Operations, the Director, Specialty Retail Programs will be responsible for leading and evolving strategic Specialty Retail programs across our pharmacy network by collaborating with enterprise and SHN teams. The role will focus on the development, implementation, performance and ongoing optimization of Specialty Retail programs, partnerships and digital capabilities that enhance the patient and pharmacy experience and support the continued growth of Specialty within Retail.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the strategy, development, implementation and ongoing optimization of new and existing Specialty Retail programs and initiatives across the pharmacy network.
  • Own the ongoing performance monitoring of key Specialty Retail programs and partnerships, using data and analytics to understand adoption, utilization, patient and pharmacy trends, and overall program performance.
  • Analyze Specialty Retail performance at the program, drug, pharmacy, market and network level to identify emerging trends, performance gaps and opportunities for growth or optimization.
  • Translate complex data and business insights into clear recommendations and action plans, partnering with appropriate teams to address opportunities and improve program performance.
  • Establish meaningful performance measures, reporting and governance for Specialty Retail initiatives to provide visibility into progress, outcomes and areas requiring intervention.
  • Partner with Data, Digital, Pharmacy Systems and other enterprise teams to develop and enhance dashboards, reporting and digital capabilities that improve visibility into Specialty Retail performance and enable better business decisions.
  • Identify and advance digital and technology-enabled opportunities that simplify the specialty experience, improve pharmacy execution and enable Specialty Retail programs to operate effectively at scale.
  • Develop strategic messaging and communication for key stakeholders, including executive presentations, business updates, memos and content development.
  • Oversee Pharmacy implementation and training plans for new and existing specialty programs.
  • Work collaboratively with enterprise teams to ensure effective implementation of strategic initiatives related to Specialty Retail.
  • Collaborate with SDM and enterprise teams to integrate relevant services and capabilities into the specialty patient journey at SDM.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of processes and operating models required to support Specialty Retail programs at scale.
  • Act as a Specialty Retail subject matter expert and strategic partner for enterprise initiatives, digital capabilities and business opportunities impacting Specialty Retail.


What you will need
  • Registered Pharmacist in good standing with Ontario College of Pharmacists preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of combined experience in pharmacy, pharmaceutical, healthcare and/or related business environments.
  • Experience leading complex strategic programs and initiatives from development through implementation and ongoing performance management.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen, with demonstrated ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful trends and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience developing and using performance measures, dashboards and reporting to monitor business or program performance.
  • Experience working with digital, technology or pharmacy system capabilities and translating business needs into scalable solutions.
  • Strong ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective and engaging content developer and speaker for oral and executive presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships across the enterprise.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications; experience working with business intelligence, reporting and data visualization tools considered an asset.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changes of responsibility reflective of business needs.
  • Patient Support Program and/or Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred.
