Responsibilities
I. JOB SUMMARY:
A director functions at a high organizational level, providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives to further the mission of The Queen's Health Systems (QHS). Anticipates problems and other needs and seeks solutions to assure the on-going operations of QHS. Is highly skilled in facilitating interactions among organizational departments and functions. Promotes teamwork and collaboration; is results-oriented. A director reports to an executive; is accountable for functions and/or activities at the organization but may also have responsibilities, supporting operations at other Queen's Health Systems (QHS) entities or other affiliated organizations. He/she is accountable for outcomes and results to achieve the annual goals and objectives approved by the Board of Trustees. Makes a significant contribution to patient care quality and service. Functions as an organizational leader and is accountable to the System Leadership Council. Recognizes and supports the unique heritage and mission established by the founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.
Area(s) of assignment: The Director of Specialty Clinics directs and oversees the management of the operations of physicians' offices and support departments; oversees the logistical and analytical support for the practice management system for the enterprise; provides leadership and direction to each department to ensure objectives are met; provides leadership in streamlining and standardizing operations, budgeting, provides ambulatory strategy support, growth and development efforts. The director is responsible for the execution of strategic, business, and program business plans that pertains to their ambulatory area of assignments. He or she must interact with all levels within the organization from executive leadership, providers, directors, managers and staff to assure all key stakeholders are engaged in developing the ambulatory strategy for assigned areas.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):
• Expertise in legal/regulatory/financial issues involved in area(s)of assignment.
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies, laws and regulations that govern the health care industry and physician practice management methods and computerized systems.
• Ability to lead, direct, and manage multiple departments, evaluate and resolve complex issues ensuring proper follow through to maintain quality and service excellence.
• Knowledge and ability in utilizing computer applications as related to the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications with a broad range of people.
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport and good working relationships with a broad range of people.
• Ability to implement and coordinate programs and projects effectively.
V. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Nursing, Business Administration or related field.
• Master's degree in Health Care, Business Administration or other related area.
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in the Ambulatory health care setting required; at least two (2) years of which should be in a physician practice.
• Experience in management of outpatient specialties is preferred.
• Solid understanding of business principles, i.e., strategic and financial planning, budgeting, business planning, organization theory.
• Proven leadership skills, i.e., planning, communications, motivation, mentoring, interpersonal skills.
• Track record of managing multiple departments/functions, preferably in a comparable health setting.
