DescriptionSummary:
The Director of Small Business Banking leads the strategy, growth, and performance of the credit union's small business segment. This role oversees a team of Small Business Relationship Managers, driving relationship management, lending and deposit growth, member experience, and strong portfolio performance, while ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with the credit union's mission and values.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors degree or a minimum of eight years banking experience required
- Minimum six years' experience in small business, financial services required
- Minimum five years' banking leadership experience required
- Underwriting experience preferred
- Balance sheet income statement and P&L experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategy, growth, and overall direction of the Small Business Banking program in alignment with organizational priorities
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Small Business Bankers to drive strong production, portfolio health, and member engagement
- Identify market opportunities and champion new products, services, and delivery enhancements to expand the segment
- Oversee portfolio performance, including quality, delinquencies, and risk metrics, implementing corrective actions when needed
- Build scalable playbooks, routines, workflows, and training to strengthen execution across front- and back-office teams
- Develop dashboards and reporting to measure performance, guide decision-making, and track progress toward goals
- Partner closely with Retail, Operations, Technology, Credit, Risk, and Compliance to optimize efficiency, ensure regulatory adherence, and enhance the member experience
- Maintain the strategic roadmap for future program growth, including technology, process, and product evolution
- Support internal and external audits, exams, and regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance with lending, BSA/AML, and NCUA standards
- Serve as a senior advocate for business members, resolving complex issues and reinforcing the credit union's service and relationship-driven culture
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

The good faith range for this position is $140,000 - $175k. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
