Full Job Description

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Blattner is seeking a Director Safety to join our growing Gas Power Generation team.  The Director Safety develops and executes safety strategies and operations directly related to organization-wide environmental health and safety programs.   They work closely with internal and external key stakeholders to drive our culture, prioritizing safety above all else while improving business performance. They provide overall leadership, professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of all EHS processes including regulatory agency compliance, organizational polices, and employee EHS knowledge and awareness.

 STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Provides professional expertise and strategy in the design, development, and implementation of the environmental health and safety program that is required to achieve business goals and results.
  • Leads the strategy and execution of safety program to prioritize safety above all else, while driving improvements in EHS metrics.
  • Develops and implements safety policies, procedures, training, and programs by analyzing safety needs based on assessment of risk and compliance with safety regulations, client needs, and company standards; and recommends necessary changes to all policies and programs that require modification.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.  This includes completing regulatory inspections and acting as liaison with regulatory agencies
  • Collaborates on the development of project specific safety plans. 
  • Develops sub-contractor safety management system.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • 10 or more years of progressive HSE experience with at least 7 years in leadership roles within utility-scale natural gas power generation, heavy industrial, or EPC field execution.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926, NFPA 70E, ANSI, EPA, and DOT standards.
  • Proven success leading subcontractor and multi-employer HSE programs.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills in client and legal contract environments.
  • Ability to use safety analytics and predictive data to drive strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Power BI, and safety management systems.
  • Visionary, credible leader who drives alignment between safety, operations, and performance.
  • Empathetic and accountable communicator who fosters psychological safety.
  • Data-driven decision-maker who transforms lessons learned into system improvements.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record in order to travel as needed.
