Position Title: Director, Respiratory Care
Ideal Candidate Profile:An ideal candidate will hold a current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license and a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). They will have a minimum of an associate's degree in respiratory therapy, healthcare administration, or a related field; a bachelor's degree is preferred. The successful candidate will also bring at least seven years of progressive leadership experience in acute care respiratory services.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in clinical operations, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, workforce engagement, and operational performance. They will possess a comprehensive understanding of cardiopulmonary services, healthcare leadership, financial management, and accreditation standards. Advanced certifications in respiratory care or healthcare leadership are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:- Directs the day-to-day clinical and operational performance of respiratory care services to achieve quality, safety, and service goals.
- Develops and manages departmental operating budgets while monitoring productivity and resource utilization.
- Leads, mentors, and develops Respiratory Care Managers and frontline leaders to promote accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
- Implements workforce plans, staffing strategies, and recruitment initiatives to meet departmental needs.
- Leads departmental performance improvement and change initiatives that enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborates with physicians, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical quality and patient outcomes.
- Maintains departmental readiness for regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, and applicable state regulations.
- Makes operational decisions that balance quality, patient safety, staffing, and fiscal responsibility within respiratory care services.
- Implements initiatives that improve patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and departmental performance.
- Supports evidence-based respiratory care practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional excellence within respiratory care services.
- Identifies opportunities to improve workflows, technology utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Participates in organizational committees and supports strategic initiatives.
- Develops emerging leaders and supports succession planning within respiratory care services.
- Maintains knowledge of healthcare trends, respiratory care standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices affecting respiratory care operations.
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned in support of Woman's Hospital policies, strategic initiatives, and organizational mission.
