POSTION OVERVIEW KKR is seeking an experienced Regulatory Financial Reporting Actuary to lead regulatory communications for our insurance entities and serve as the Appointed Actuary for several legal entities. This role will be responsible for supporting reserving and capital strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing industry relationships in the regulatory space across KKR's insurance platform. The Regulatory Financial Reporting Actuary will work closely with investment teams, risk management, finance, and external regulators to maintain the financial integrity and solvency of our insurance operations.
RESPONSIBILITES Regulatory & Compliance
- Serve as the Appointed Regulatory Financial Reporting Actuary for designated insurance entities in accordance with state insurance regulations
- Oversee the completion of the annual Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO) on reserves and related regulatory filings
- Ensure compliance with National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) requirements and applicable state insurance laws
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory examiners during reviews and examinations
Reserve Analysis & Valuation
- Oversee the development, review, and certification of reserves
- Evaluate reserve adequacy using multiple actuarial methodologies and perform sensitivity analyses
- Assess the reasonableness of assumptions underlying reserve estimates
- Monitor emerging trends and their impact on reserve and regulatory capital positions
- Review and opine on reserves and regulatory capital for acquisitions, reinsurance transactions, and new business initiatives
Strategic Support & Risk Management
- Provide actuarial expertise to support underwriting strategy, pricing, and portfolio management decisions
- Collaborate with investment teams on insurance M&A transactions and due diligence
- Assess capital adequacy and solvency positions under various stress scenarios
- Support enterprise risk management initiatives and ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) processes
- Advise senior leadership on actuarial implications of strategic initiatives, while staying ahead of emerging regulatory changes and leading their implementation across the platform
Reporting & Communication
- Present reserve analyses and actuarial findings to senior management, Board committees, and regulators
- Prepare technical memoranda documenting actuarial methods, assumptions, and conclusions
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Maintain comprehensive actuarial files and documentation in accordance with professional standards
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) required
- Member in good standing of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
- Must meet qualification standards to sign Statements of Actuarial Opinion under NAIC regulations
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance
- 5+ years of experience in a financial reporting role managing other actuaries
- Prior experience serving as Valuation Actuary or Appointed Actuary strongly preferred
- Experience with insurance regulatory examinations and interactions with state insurance departments
- Background in insurance M&A, reinsurance, or alternative risk transfer is a plus
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in actuarial reserving methodologies, including statutory reserving methodologies for life and annuity products
- Experience with reinsurance structures and financial modeling
- Experience with complex assets
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles (SAP) and GAAP
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks and solvency requirements (RBC, ORSA)

- Knowledge of international insurance regulations (e.g., Solvency II, Bermuda regulatory framework)
