A Brief Overview


Accountable for directing the operation of the Radiology department, its personnel and its affiliated clinic's radiology personnel.

What you will do

  • Integrates Departmental services into the organization’s primary functions.
  • Develops and updates policies and procedures consistent with organization’s policies ensuring that department meets JCAHO, CMS, NRC, MQSA and ACR standards; makes changes to meet state and federal requirements including safety standards.
  • Participates in the System’s Radiology Service Line and participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or organization.
  • Stays abreast of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, equipment and methods. Responsible for determining new programs and their development.
  • Directs procurement of supplies and equipment in coordinator with Supply chain and assures proper storage and utilization of those items.
  • Establishes fiscal plans for the departments and operates within its parameters.
  • Continually assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided by the department. Conducts regular department meetings and education in-services for all staff.
  • Coordinates marketing plans for services offered in conjunction with Avera Marketing.
  • Operates specialized equipment to produce diagnostic information.
  • Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Technical Certificate Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent specialty
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Upon Hire
  • 4-6 years as a staff Technologist

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Nuclear Medicine Technology, Business, Management or related field
  • Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Upon Hire or
  • Certified MRI Technologist - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) Upon Hire or
  • Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Upon Hire or
  • Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) - Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC)
  • Management or supervisory experience
