Our Team, Your Impact

The Director - Clinical Development Business Partnering & Category Strategy is a strategic procurement leader responsible for leading and advancing category management across Teva's global Clinical Development organization. The role partners with Clinical Development, R&D, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, and other stakeholders to translate business priorities, portfolio needs, market intelligence, and supplier capabilities into procurement strategies that drive value, improve supplier performance, strengthen resilience, and support business objectives.
Reporting to the Sr. Director Global Procurement - Research & Development, this leader provides strategic direction to category managers and sourcing professionals supporting approximately $410M in clinical development spend across clinical services, technologies, clinical supply-related services, and related categories. The role is accountable for developing category strategies, strengthening strategic supplier partnerships, building productivity roadmaps, improving supplier resilience and business continuity, and advancing Procurement's role as a trusted business partner.
The successful candidate is a strategic procurement leader who can operate across a complex global pharmaceutical environment, balancing category strategy, stakeholder influence, supplier partnership development, team leadership, and continuous improvement to further mature Procurement as a trusted value-creation partner.

How You'll Spend Your Day

Business Partnering & Category Strategy
• Partner with Clinical Development and R&D leaders to align procurement strategies with business priorities, portfolio needs, and long-term objectives.
• Lead category strategy development, prioritization, and multi-year roadmaps across clinical development categories, translating business needs, spend insights, market intelligence, and supplier capabilities into actionable strategies.
• Serve as the Procurement category expert, providing strategic insights and recommendations to influence business decisions.
Category Analytics, Productivity & Value Creation
• Develop category productivity roadmaps that identify opportunities to optimize cost, improve supplier performance, reduce risk, and create measurable business value.
• Leverage spend analytics, supplier insights, benchmarking, and market intelligence to identify opportunities and guide strategic decisions.
• Establish value plans, performance measures, and reporting mechanisms to demonstrate category impact and outcomes.
Strategic Supplier Management & Market Intelligence
• Develop strategic supplier relationship strategies for critical clinical development suppliers, including supplier segmentation, governance models, performance expectations, and executive engagement.
• Maintain external market intelligence and supplier capability perspectives across CROs, FSP/FSO models, central laboratories, biometrics providers, clinical technology providers, and related services to inform category strategies and business decisions.
• Leverage supplier insights to identify innovation opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and improve business outcomes.
Procurement Leadership & Capability Development
• Provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to category managers and sourcing professionals, establishing priorities, accountability, and capability growth.
• Build scalable category management practices, governance models, and ways of working that strengthen Procurement effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
• Drive change and continuous improvement to advance Procurement's role as a strategic business partner.
Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Enablement
• Ensure category strategies translate into effective sourcing approaches, supplier strategies, and commercial outcomes in partnership with sourcing, Legal, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, and business stakeholders.
• Balance cost, quality, speed, flexibility, innovation, compliance, supplier sustainability, and resilience when developing procurement strategies and recommendations.

Your Skills and Experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, category management, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, or related disciplines, with significant experience supporting clinical development, R&D, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or other regulated environments.
• Demonstrated success developing category strategies, supplier strategies, productivity initiatives, and business partnerships within complex global organizations.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical drug development, clinical development operating models, outsourcing strategies, supplier ecosystems, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, translate business priorities into procurement strategies, and deliver measurable business value through strong commercial, analytical, and strategic capabilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Finance, or related field.
• Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum five years of direct people leadership, team leadership, and/or significant matrix leadership experience.

Also Good to Have
• Experience supporting clinical development categories, including CROs, FSP/FSO models, central labs, biometrics providers, clinical technology providers, patient recruitment vendors, clinical supply providers, or related services.
• Experience building category management capabilities, strategic supplier relationship programs, supplier governance models, or procurement operating models.
• Experience supporting global R&D organizations within complex pharmaceutical environments and leveraging procurement technologies, analytics, or digital capabilities.
