DescriptionDirector, Property Management Operations - Upland, CA Lewis Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Director, Property Management Operations, to provide strategic and operational leadership for the centralized functions that support our Residential Property Management organization.
In this highly collaborative leadership role, you will oversee a team of approximately 13-15 employees and partner closely with Regional Directors, property operations leaders, and corporate departments to improve processes, strengthen operational consistency, and ensure our onsite teams have the systems and support they need to successfully serve our communities.
Your Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs our Director, Property Management Operations, you will:
- Lead the operational infrastructure and centralized support functions for Residential Property Management, driving consistency, efficiency, accountability, and service to field operations.
- Evaluate workflows and administrative processes to identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, automation, and centralization.
- Lead operational projects and initiatives from planning through implementation, communication, and follow-through.
- Provide leadership and oversight of our RealPage property management system, including system administration, configuration, user support, enhancements, integrations, and adoption.
- Partner with IT, vendors, and operational leadership to implement new technology and improve existing systems and workflows.
- Oversee centralized contract administration and contract invoice processing, establishing effective controls and processes for approvals, documentation, renewals, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Oversee the governance and ongoing development of RPM policies and procedures, partnering with Legal, HR, Accounting, and subject matter experts to ensure policies remain current, practical, and compliant.
- Lead and continuously evolve our centralized operations model, identifying opportunities to shift appropriate administrative work from onsite teams and create greater capacity for resident service, leasing, and property operations.
- Oversee centralized Housing Assistance Program (HAP) support and related affordable housing administrative functions.
- Establish meaningful service levels, performance measures, workflows, controls, and accountability across centralized functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 13-15 employees, building a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, accuracy, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and exceptional internal customer service.
- Partner closely with Regional Directors to understand field needs, address operational challenges, and develop practical, scalable solutions.
- Use data, operational trends, and field feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and support informed business decisions.
- Lead change management for significant operational, technology, and organizational initiatives.
Experience for Success:- 8+ years of progressive experience in multifamily property management, property management operations, centralized services, or a related operational leadership function.
- 3-5+ years of experience leading and developing teams, preferably across multiple operational functions or teams of comparable size and complexity.
- Strong knowledge of multifamily property management operations and the administrative processes supporting onsite and regional teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, standardization, centralized operations, or operational transformation initiatives.
- Experience with property management technology and systems; significant RealPage / Yardi experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated ability to establish accountability, manage competing priorities, and drive execution across multiple functional areas.
- Working knowledge of contracts, invoice administration, policies and procedures, internal controls, and compliance-related processes preferred.
- Knowledge of HAP, affordable housing, or housing assistance programs is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Operations, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
NOTE: Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required for travel to company projects. Occasional air travel to Northern CA will also be required.
Salary & PerksIn addition to a base salary range of
