The Director of product optimization is a key nursing leadership role that drives the integration of care team operation products across clinical environments. This position will oversee the operationalization and optimization of care team products within existing sites, ensuring that nursing perspectives and clinical workflows are at the forefront of its development and ongoing management. The Director will serve as a critical liaison between the nursing staff, clinical leadership, and product teams, advocating for nursing needs and ensuring that product solutions align with the realities of nursing practice and patient care. Up to 50% travel required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Nursing Leadership & Clinical Integration:
oLead the integration and ongoing optimization of clinical products across clinical sites, ensuring that nursing input is central to every development and deployment phase.
oCollaborate closely with product teams and Performance Improvement (PI) to ensure the clinical viability and user-friendliness of the platform for nursing staff.
oChampion the voice of nurses in the development of product solutions, ensuring that the system supports and enhances clinical workflows while addressing nurses' needs and concerns.
oProvide guidance and support for the nursing staff on the effective use of products, ensuring that any clinical barriers or challenges are identified and addressed in collaboration with the product team.
2.Clinical Operations & Workflow Optimization:
oAnalyze and interpret clinical workflows, identifying areas where products can be optimized to improve nursing productivity, enhance patient care, and streamline labor management processes.
oEnsure that the product aligns with the organization's standards of care and supports the models of care used in different clinical settings.
oPartner with clinical leaders to gather feedback from nursing teams, integrating their insights into product iterations and workflows to continuously improve both clinical and operational outcomes.
oLead pilots and test implementations of new product features in collaboration with business leaders, ensuring that changes reflect the needs and expectations of the nursing staff.
3.Clinical Support & Training:
oServe as the clinical expert for products, providing ongoing support to clinical teams to ensure smooth adoption and usage of the platform.
oPartner with education on the development of training materials and programs that are tailored to the needs of nursing staff, ensuring that all users are well-equipped to maximize the potential of the system or product.
4.Advocacy & Representation of Nursing:
oAct as the primary advocate for nursing within the Clinical Innovation Hub, ensuring that the voice of the nursing team is represented in all product development, pilot testing, and optimization activities.
oRegularly meet with nursing leaders and frontline staff to understand their challenges and feedback on products, advocating for changes that will improve their work experience and patient care delivery.
oFoster strong relationships with clinical subject matter experts and frontline nursing staff, creating a continuous feedback loop to inform product and process improvements.
5.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
oPartner with other operational and clinical leaders to align optimization efforts with broader organizational goals, ensuring that clinical, financial, and market objectives are met without compromising nursing standards or patient care.
oCollaborate with research teams to ensure that innovations are based on evidence-based practices and support the latest advancements in nursing care delivery.
6.Continuous Improvement & Strategic Impact:
oLead initiatives to continuously assess and enhance the effectiveness of products in improving clinical workflows, nursing efficiency, and patient care outcomes.
oAnalyze clinical data and metrics to provide insights into the effectiveness of products and other clinical solutions, recommending changes based on data-driven results.
oEnsure that products meet regulatory, compliance, and financial requirements while enhancing the overall clinical experience for nursing teams.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor Degree
• Master's degree in nursing or other healthcare field preferred
• Doctoral degree in nursing or healthcare-related field preferred
• Active RN licensure required
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in direct care practice is required.
• Previous hospital-based operations (at least two years in a hospital-level supervisory position) is preferred.
• Must be able to work effectively alongside operational staff, leadership at multiple levels of the organization, as well as Subject Matter Advisors and Subject Matter Experts.
• Effectively manages multiple and frequently changing priorities and demonstrates strong time management skills to deliver high-quality work products/artifacts in a dynamic environment with critical deadlines.
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills required to address clinical and systems-related challenges, gather and interpret clinical data, and prepare a concise synthesis of both data and observations. Analytical skills must include the ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data, as well as identify innovative solutions to complex and challenging clinical problems.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required to share complex information and observations with a broad audience of leaders and interprofessional clinicians.
• Has extensive knowledge of HCA Healthcare-related clinical systems (examples include the electronic health record, medication administration, etc.) and clinical workflows.
• Proven ability to organize projects, team build, and problem solve are required.
• Care effectiveness evaluations with reporting of alternative tactics for higher efficiency, effectiveness, and coordination efforts of teams.
