THE POSITION:The Director, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer will support innovation initiatives, support campus master planning, and provide support to the Vice President, Architecture for a multi-phase, campus-scale construction project ensuring that cost-effective and energy efficient data center facilities are developed to meet the current and future needs of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversee the preparation and final approval of plumbing and fire protection project contract documents produced by third party design consultants.
- Ensure that project designs are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Provide subject matter expertise for domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, fuel systems, fire pumps, water storage, pre-action systems, clean agent systems, special hazard protection, and campus utility fire infrastructure.
- Support campus master planning efforts including utility capacity assessments, water supply strategies, fire water distribution networks, and future expansion planning.
- Collaborate with AHJs, insurance carriers, utility providers, and commissioning teams to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Maintain and update company standards, specifications, and basis of design documents for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies and systems to maximize energy and cost efficiency of the company's data centers.
- Communicate and implement engineering and design policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and design trends related to the organizations industry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: - Professional Engineer (PE) Registration is Preferred; Mechanical, Fire Protection, or related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering, architectural engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in the design, construction, and operation of mission-critical facilities, with significant expertise in resilient plumbing and fire protection systems for data centers, industrial facilities, or other critical infrastructure to be considered for Director level position.
- Candidates with 5-7 years' experience in design of data centers can apply but will be considered for a Manager level position.
- Demonstrated experience with NFPA standards, International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), FM Global requirements, and local AHJ approval processes.
- Expertise in fire suppression systems including pre-action, dry pipe, wet pipe, deluge, clean agent, and special hazard protection systems.
- Strong understanding of campus utility infrastructure, water supply systems, fire water storage, fire pumps, underground distribution systems, and water treatment strategies.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
- Baseline proficiency of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.
THE DETAILS: - Location: Denver, CO preferred; Alternate STACK data center locations considered
- Travel: Some domestic travel required, estimated 25-33%
- Must be eligible to work in the United States

Compensation Range: $209,456.00 - $234,578.00
