Director, Physician Relations

This is a unique opportunity for a human resources leader with physician relations expertise to partner with executive leaders, legal counsel, operational teams, and physician leaders to navigate complex employment matters, foster engagement, and strengthen physician workforce effectiveness across one of the region's leading healthcare organizations.
What You'll Do

As the operational leader for physician relations, you will serve as the trusted advisor and primary resource for physician employment matters throughout the organization. You will drive consistent, fair, and compliant employment practices while helping leaders address complex workforce challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Physician Relations Leadership
• Lead physician employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, workplace investigations, and behavioral management.
• Serve as the primary HR partner for physician-related employment issues and concerns.
• Collaborate with physician leaders, Institute Dyad partners, operations teams, and legal counsel to assess risk and determine appropriate actions.
• Support physician engagement and retention initiatives through effective workforce management practices.
Investigations & Performance Management
• Direct and coordinate sensitive physician investigations from intake through resolution.
• Lead physician behavioral modification processes, including planning, facilitation, documentation, and follow-up.
• Partner with executive leadership on complex physician performance discussions and employment actions.
• Coordinate physician separation planning and transition activities when necessary.
Physician Employment Lifecycle
• Facilitate physician employment transitions, including onboarding, status changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
• Oversee physician employment-related complaints and ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate physician sign-on bonus requests and approval processes.
Policy, Compliance & Strategic Partnership
• Partner with Legal and HR leadership on employment risk mitigation and compliance matters.
• Serve as a key liaison for physician employment policies and procedures.
• Lead the Academic FTE allocation and approval process.
• Provide strategic consultation and coaching to physician and operational leaders on complex employment issues.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within an integrated healthcare system.
• Demonstrated physician relations experience.
• Strong knowledge of employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
• Deep understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, EEOC, and Title VII.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage highly sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
• PHR or SPHR certification.
• Experience supporting physician employment programs, contracts, and workforce management initiatives.
• Experience partnering with executives and legal counsel on complex employment matters.
