Director, Origination - DFGThe RoleThis position is responsible for originating new loans to generate branch revenue by establishing and implementing an ongoing marketing program for existing and prospective new Borrower clients. Responsibilities also include structuring and underwriting credit facilities, securing syndication lending partners as needed, negotiating loan terms with Borrower clients, completing and presenting loan proposals, and reviewing and approving loan advances.
Soliciting New Lending Opportunities in the Development Community aimed Primarily at Residential Developments (for sale and rental) and Commercial Developments- Meet with existing clients regularly to discuss their upcoming projects and promoting MCAP as the preferred lending source
- Through market research identify and contact new clients in the market place and promote MCAP as an alternative to their existing lender
- Review current portfolio to maximize lending / revenue opportunities on existing deals
Prepare and Issue Loan Proposals and Negotiating Acceptance of Same- Inspect development sites and review development plans (i.e. request for financing package, project pro-forma, site drawings/blueprints, financial statements, etc.)
- Complete various project and loan analysis to identify the credit risk and establish loan amounts, structure, terms and conditions to mitigate these risks.
- Complete cash-flow and IRR analysis to establish loan pricing that is commensurate with the credit risk
- Complete Term Sheet outlining the recommended deal to obtain preliminary support from Investment Committee(s).
- Negotiate execution of loan proposal with Borrowing client
Prepare Loan Presentation to Investors for Approval- Summarize all project details, plans, figures and analysis into a formal Loan Summary to be circulated to the relevant Investor Credit Committee for review and approval
- Address any questions or concerns raised by the Investor Credit Committee
- Complete any amendments / additional requirements to the summary in order to gain Credit approval
Prepare and Issue Commitment Letters Binding the Loan Agreement Between the Borrower and Investor- Prepare a Loan Commitment Letter outlining the terms and conditions as outlined in the Loan Summary
- Negotiate any necessary changes to the Commitment and communicate any material changes to the Investor Credit Committee for additional approvals
Ongoing Monitoring and Account Maintenance of Loan Portfolio Upon Initial Funding and Throughout the Term of the Loan - Monitor newly signed Loan Commitments and through liaison with the Funding Department approve the initial loan advance and / or address and resolve any material deficiencies in conditions precedent with Borrowing client
- Approve monthly loan draws and resolve any ongoing funding issues between funding department and Borrowing client
- Complete necessary amendments and loan extensions as required. Upon approval, draft amending letters which are to be sent to the Borrowing client for execution
Oversight and Continued Training of Analysts and Advisors- Assess and guide the development of the Analysts and Advisors
- Review and provide input into Term Sheets, Loan Summaries and Amendments ensuring that the completed documents are accurate and have identified/mitigated risks
- Ensure underwriting guidelines have been satisfied
- Review and provide input into the portfolio reporting completed by the Analysts
Lead and Manage Staff- Champion the company's Vision, Mission and Values as set out in the Strategic Plan both internally and externally within the industry.
- Recruit and develop the right people that believe in and reflect in their behavior MCAP's Values and culture.
- Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the business unit.
- Ensure a continuous improvement culture is established and encouraged.
