SUMMARY

The Director, Organizational Communications is responsible for developing, editing and producing high-quality content that supports NCBA's organizational priorities and effectively communicates with members, cattle producers and industry stakeholders. This position serves as NCBA's editorial and content production lead, overseeing the development and production of flagship publications, recurring email communications, podcast, Web and other owned media content. The Director ensures content is accurate, compelling, audience-focused and consistent with NCBA's established messaging, voice and editorial standards. This position plays a key role in implementing integrated communications strategies that support outreach to key audiences. The Director collaborates cross-functionally to manage complex, high-impact projects and ensure cohesive messaging across all channels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the development, editing and production of high-quality content that supports NCBA's organizational priorities and engages members, cattle producers and industry stakeholders across print, digital and multimedia platforms.
  • Oversees the editorial planning, content strategy and production of NCBA's flagship communications products, including the National Cattlemen newspaper, Directions magazine, Cattlemen's Call podcast, email communications, NCBA website and other owned media channels.
  • Facilitates editorial planning and content development processes, identifying storytelling opportunities and coordinating content calendars to support organizational initiatives and member engagement efforts.
  • Writes, edits and reviews a variety of communications materials, collaborating with internal departments and subject matter experts to develop content and ensure accurate, consistent messaging across channels.
  • Supports and executes integrated communications strategies, managing complex content and communications projects from concept through production to ensure quality, timeliness and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Partners with the Corporate Relations team to support sponsorship, advertising and other revenue-generating opportunities across communications platforms.
  • Monitors communications performance metrics, audience engagement trends and industry developments to inform content strategy and continuous improvement.
  • Tracks and manages budgets related to assigned communications, publications and content production initiatives.
  • Maintains awareness of issues, trends and developments affecting the cattle and beef industry to ensure relevant and timely communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, public relations or communications is required.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications, editorial, publishing, content strategy, journalism, public relations or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading content planning, editorial development and publication production for print, digital and/or multimedia communications channels.
  • Experience managing complex communications and content projects from concept through publication, including coordination of timelines, stakeholders and external vendors as needed.
  • Experience overseeing or contributing to publications, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, podcasts or other owned-media products; association or membership organization experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the cattle, beef or broader agriculture industry is strongly preferred.
  • Occasional travel is required to support organizational events, industry meetings and content development activities.
