Description

We have a new management opportunity available in our Transportation Department.

The Director of Transportation, who reports to the CFO, is responsible for supervisory and administrative duties; department administration; program policy and procedure development and management; oversite of safely transporting the individuals served by The Arc Mid-Hudson, oversite of the contracted operations of public transit and field customer service.

This role is mainly involved in problem solving and mediating highly conflicting, unexpected, and unusual problem involving vehicles and staff. Provides direct and indirect supervision to the employees working in the Transportation Department.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervising the Assistant Director of Transportation; hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring Transportation staff.
  • Overall scheduling, coordination, and supervision of the Transportation system of The Arc Mid-Hudson.
  • Developing and supervising vehicle maintenance schedules.•
  • Assuring compliance of all vehicles with Federal, State and other applicable regulations and codes.
  • Ensuring all drivers maintain position requirements.
  • Administering and maintaining annual check-ups and vehicle driver testing. Maintain documents in a secure file for audits.
  • Develop and maintain a system of coordination among Maintenance and Transportation staff, and other Agency programs.
  • Ensure the safety of all individual's served by The Arc Mid-Hudson who utilize Transportation services.
  • Develop and maintain a computerized Transportation program.
  • Responsible for writing of grants necessary to procure vehicles and other applicable grants.
  • Estimate and requisition necessary equipment.

This position will require regular travel to all three counties (Ulster, Greene and Putnam).
SCHEDULE: 40/Monday through Friday/must be flexible

STARTING SALARY: $ 90,000 to $ 105,000 per year, based on relevant experience and education

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in human services or other relevant major to the field and job, required (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  • Five (5) years of supervisor and administrative experience specifically involving applicable Federal, State transportation codes and regulations.
  • Strong leadership/planning/project management experience required.
  • Presentation skills, creative problem solving and networking skills required.
  • Must be customer focused with oral and written communication competencies.
  • Familiarity with databases, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, Global Positioning System Technology or other applicable technologies a plus.
  • Must be able to perform position responsibilities in a safe manner, including the ability to lift 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations, demonstrate proper lifting techniques, and safety measures to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Understanding of Vehicular Code of NYS preferred.
  • Prior experience working with older adults and/or people with disabilities desired.
