Director of Transportation Design EngineeringThe Director of Transportation Design Engineering will be a key leader within our organization, responsible for overseeing and managing the design and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful project delivery, team leadership, and a deep understanding of engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and vision for the transportation design engineering department.
- Develop and implement long-term goals, business plans, and initiatives to drive the growth and success of the department.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of transportation and municipal projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Act as a project director on key initiatives, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional engineering solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, designers, and project managers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work culture, encouraging professional development and knowledge-sharing among team members.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with clients to develop project scopes, deliverables, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project life cycle.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering issues.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in transportation and municipal engineering.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of engineering designs and deliverables.
- Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- 10 years of progressive experience in transportation design engineering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards, regulations and experience with ODOT and/or INDOT projects.
