Full Job Description
TITLE: Director of the Wellness Center

DEPARTMENT: Wellness Center

REPORTS TO: Dean of Students

PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:

Director of the Wellness Center will provide vision and leadership to health and counseling services. Will collaborate with partners across divisional units to identify and remove institutional obstacles to student success and engagement. Oversees the operations, staffing and referral resources. Monitor processes to assess quality and manage risk. The director serves as a representative on university committees. Work collaboratively with the Student Affairs and Equity division to support the success of all students through initiatives for timely completion, completion with a purpose, and skill building.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Tasks, Center Operations and Staffing
  • Establishes policies for operations of the Wellness Center in order to maximize use of resources for the quality care of students.
  • Hires, trains, supports and supervises clinical managers, staff of Wellness Center, managing the clinical demands and resources.
  • Prepares and oversees Center budget and sets spending priorities.
  • Oversees the efficient management of office functions of the Wellness Center such as purchasing supplies, monitoring equipment and furniture needs, and allocation of space.
  • Conducts evaluation of all programs and initiatives and insures implementation of strategic and business plans for the Wellness Center.
  • Seeks and provides opportunities for Wellness Center staff's professional development.
  • Maintains social media accounts for the Wellness Center.


Campus and Community Collaborations
  • Serve as the Liaison to Academic Affairs for Study Abroad (medical clearance, emergency/crisis)
  • Identifies barriers in health and wellness that effect students' ability to persist and develop strategies to support student wellness.
  • Builds and maintains referral relationships with community providers for supporting the holistic counseling and health services needs of students
  • Develop and maintain Memorandum of Understandings with community partnerships to build effective referral relationships.
  • Formalizes referral and collaborative agreements through a contract process in concert with the Dean of Students and monitors the terms of any contractual arrangements with the Wellness Center to ensure compliance and manage risk.


Risk and Quality Assurance Processes
  • Consults with senior leadership on issues related to risk, legal liability, and quality relevant to the provision of Wellness Center services and sets policy to operate within all federal and state laws and regulations, University policies, and professional and ethical standards.
  • Insures that operational and clinical data is collected, securely maintained and monitored for trends in utilization, demand, quality improvement and efficiency of operations. Reports outcomes to Dean of Students and appropriate regulatory bodies.


Health Promotion
  • Collaborates with Wellness Center staff, Student Affairs and Equity colleagues, and others across university departments to identify and assess health promotion needs across campuses.
  • Monitor Health Promotion initiatives to ensure trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.


Clinical Services
  • Provide direct clinical care to students when necessary to support student need.
  • Provide clinical supervision to the staff to foster an interdepartmental approach to the wellness of students


Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree required
  • A mental health or physical health clinician, training and licensure.
  • Five to seven years of management experience as a clinic or practice administrator.
  • Direct clinical experience in college health and mental health, preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to develop effective, collaborative relationships with members of the Wellness Center staff, University community, and external referral sources.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Care records software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times


Salary and FLSA Status
  • Salary: $100,000-$110,000 per year
  • Schedule: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
