Director of Technology

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Status: FT, Exempt

Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000 Salary commensurate with experience

Position Summary

Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Head of School, the Director of Technology is an educational leader responsible for advancing the school's vision for technology in support of teaching and learning, student engagement, institutional effectiveness, and community safety. The Director provides strategic leadership, oversees daily technology operations, promotes innovative and mission-aligned uses of technology, and ensures that the school's systems, data, and infrastructure are secure, reliable, and responsive to the needs of faculty, staff, students, and families.

Essential Functions
  1. Develop and lead a short-term and long-range technology plan aligned with the school's mission, strategic priorities, and educational program.
  1. Serve as a strategic partner to the Head of School, CFO, and administrative team on matters related to technology, innovation, cybersecurity, and emerging trends in education.
  1. Partner with school leaders, faculty, and academic technology staff to support meaningful uses of technology that strengthen teaching, learning, creativity, collaboration, and student engagement.
  1. Promote innovation byidentifying, evaluating, and recommending new and emerging technologies for classroom and administrative use.
  1. Oversee and ensure the coordination, security, and efficiency of the school's IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware and devices, software, cloud platforms, databases, servers, andfirewallprotections.
  1. Develop,maintain, andmonitorcybersecurity and data protection practices for all technology resources, including alignment with recognized standards such as NIST and COBIT.
  1. Assess and respond to the technology needs of faculty, staff, and administrators, ensuringtimelysupport and a strong culture of service.
  1. Supervise technology personnel and consultants supporting school-wide IT systems and services, includinggoal-setting, performance oversight, and coordination of responsibilities.
  1. Manage vendor relationships, procurement, implementation, and ongoing support for information systems and technology services.
  1. Develop and manage the school's technologyoperatingand capital budgets in collaboration with the CFO.
  1. Oversee faculty, staff, and student user accounts, access, and permissions across multiple platforms and systems.
  1. Lead the administration, maintenance, and strategic use of key school technology systems, including but not limited to:
  • Email and productivity software (Office 365)
  • Network management (Aruba)
  • Identity management (Active Directory/Azure)
  • Student information system (Blackbaud ON Suite)
  • Device management platform (Intune)
  • Network and device filtering (Lightspeed Relay)
  • On-premises and cloud-based Windows servers
  1. Oversee the school's 1:1 student device program, including planning, implementation, communication, and lifecycle management.
  1. Develop andmaintainclear policies, procedures, and documentation for the responsible, effective, and safe use of technology by faculty, staff, and students.
  1. Communicate proactively with school stakeholdersregardingmajor technology initiatives, expectations, risks, and opportunities.
  1. Support faculty and staff growth in the effective use of technology through training, collaboration, and ongoing encouragement of best practices.
  1. Participate in relevant local, regional, and national professional organizations and learning opportunitiesin order toremain current and bring forward best practices in educational technology and school IT leadership.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degreerequired; advanced degree in education, educational technology, information systems, or a related field preferred, along withdemonstratedexperience leading technology in a school or similar educational setting.
  • Significant experienceleading both instructional technology and IT operations, witha track recordof partnering with school leaders and faculty to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement through technology.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project-management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences and to foster a responsive, service-orientedteamculture.
