DEFINITION:The Director of Pulmonary, Sleep & DME Services is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, quality, and financial management of the hospital's Sleep Lab and Sleep Clinic, Pulmonary Function Testing, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) services. The Director ensures services are delivered safely, efficiently, professionally, and in compliance with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS;Appropriate clinical, healthcare administration, business, or related education and experience.- Previous healthcare supervisory or management experience required
- Experience in pulmonary, sleep medicine, DME, respiratory care, or related healthcare services preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, employees, leadership, and external partners.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Department Operations
- Oversees the daily operations of Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Function Testing, and DME services.
- Ensures appropriate staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resource utilization.
- Maintains a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment.
- Staff Leadership
- Recruits, trains, evaluates, and develops departmental staff.
- Establishes clear expectations and promotes teamwork, accountability, and excellent customer service.
- Ensures staff maintain required competencies, education, and certifications.
- Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, accreditation, and hospital requirements.
- Develops, reviews, and maintains department policies and procedures.
- Coordinates quality improvement and performance improvement activities.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Participate in budgeting, financial monitoring, and cost-control activities.
- Monitors staffing, expenses, revenue, and productivity.
- Oversees equipment, supplies, inventory, and capital needs.
- Works with hospital leadership and other departments to identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
- Patient & Physician Services
- Promotes timely, safe, and high-quality patient care across all service areas.
- Works collaboratively with physicians and clinical leadership to support patient care needs.
- Addresses patient and physician concerns and works to resolve service issues.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Works closely with other hospital departments to coordinate services and support organizational goals.
- Communicates departmental needs, performance, and operational issues to senior leadership.
- Serves as a resource for pulmonary, sleep, and DME-related services throughout the organization.
- Strategic Development
- Identifies opportunities to grow and improve Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Function Testing, and DME services.
- Supports marketing, referral development, and community outreach efforts as appropriate.
- Develops departmental goals and objectives consistent with the hospital's mission and strategic priorities.
