Responsibilities

Spring Mountain Treatment Center is a 110-bed mental health facility providing acute crisis stabilization services for adults, teens, and children in a secure inpatient setting since 2001. Our individualized treatment includes a structured, therapeutic environment, intensive physician involvement and oversight, and daily group and educational programs. We provide a caring and healthy environment that gives individuals a chance to make positive changes.

Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a full-time Director of Risk Management. The Risk Director will plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of risk management activities. Ensure a safe environment for the protection of patients, clients, employees and visitors to the facility in such a manner as to comply with laws, regulations and the standards of the accrediting and approval agencies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and analyze actual and potential risks in the facility; assess liability and probability of legal action for potential notification. Implement, educate and encourage incident reporting system throughout the facility.
  • Implement risk management program throughout the facility.
  • Develop and implement infrastructures and systems that support patient safety.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Department and Nursing Department practice to ensure the organization's procedures and policies are followed by all employees.
  • Work with internal auditors, security contractors, and other staff to establish an internal control system.
  • Monitor and analyze program performance data to determine program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure compliance with all administrative requirements.
  • Responsible for identifying high-risk areas that could cause harm to people receiving services, visitors, and employees.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant for risk management activities, performance improvement, policy/procedure development and compliance initiatives.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures that improve both patient care and employee safety. Ensure the application of institutional policies, especially those regarding patient rights, confidentiality and full disclosure.
  • Promotes a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and transparency.
  • Investigate patient safety events, incidents, and near misses; conducts root cause analyses and reviews camera footage.
  • Leads incident reporting processes and tracks trends to proactively address areas of risk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum five to eight years of relevant risk management experience, preferably within a behavioral health or hospital setting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quality reporting systems and incident reporting tools.
  • Ability to engage with the mental health population utilizing crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to engage with patients and team members in a Trauma Informed Care therapeutic approach.
  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
  • Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check.
  • Must successfully complete RQI BLS training and obtain required BLS certification.
