Job Requirements

Starting Salary: $130,000 yearly

Lead the operations of some of Central New York's most unique outdoor hospitality destinations. As the Director of Recreation & Lodging, you will oversee a diverse portfolio that includes a seasonal cottage resort, full-service marinas, waterfront cabin rentals, and a premier hunting preserve. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing revenue, enhancing the guest experience, and developing high-performing teams across multiple recreational and lodging businesses. If you're a strategic hospitality leader with a passion for outdoor recreation, guest service, and business growth, this is an opportunity to shape memorable experiences while leading a one-of-a-kind destination.

What does a Director of Recreation & Lodging do?

The Cove:
• Oversee all operational aspects of the property including sales, reservations, housekeeping, food and beverage, grounds, recreation, retail and property maintenance.
• Prepare annual budget and monitor financial performance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
• Work closely with Marketing to develop a marketing plan to promote the Cove to potential guests including promotional campaigns and packages.
• Achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction by providing efficient and courteous service in all areas.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any guest complaints or problems.
• Work with Operations Manager to create team member training programs to ensure that team members are meeting their job responsibilities in accordance with Turning Stone standards.
• Fully responsible for the management, maintenance and safety of all boats, and recreational equipment.
• Ensure all team members and guests follow proper safety policies and protocols when utilizing recreational equipment.

Marinas:
• Oversee all operational aspects of the Marinas including slip rental, fuel sales, boat storage, boat ramp operations, repair garage, ground and snow removal (off season).
• Manage cabin rental through VRBO including guest check in, check out, housekeeping and maintenance.
• Prepare annual budget and monitor financial performance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
• Achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction by providing efficient and courteous service in all areas.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any guest complaints or problems.
• Work with Operations Manager to create team member training programs to ensure that team members are meeting their job responsibilities in accordance with Turning Stone standards.

Salmon Acres:
• Oversees all operations aspects including reservations, housekeeping, property maintenance, grounds, licenses and day pass sales, and snow removal in off season.
• Prepare annual budget and monitor financial performance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
• Work closely with Marketing to develop a marketing plan to promote Salmon Acres to potential guests including promotional campaigns and packages.
• Achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction by providing efficient and courteous service in all areas.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any guest complaints or problems.

The Preserve (OIN Outfitters):
• Oversees all operational aspects including reservations, sales, herd management and property maintenance.
• Ensures the herd is in good health and have annual Veterinarian checks.
• Purchase of trophy animals following NYS guidelines.
• Prepare annual budget and monitor financial performance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any guest complaints or problems.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Director of Recreation & Lodging, you'll need:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hotel Management, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a Hospitality or Recreation Operations Management role.
• Must possess superior guest service skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.
• Proven track record of successful team leadership and development.
• Extensive experience with marketing, budgeting, and purchasing.
• Must possess valid driver's license.

Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 11 - 20 pounds.
