About the Role

Super Steel is seeking a Director of Quality who brings strong, hands-on manufacturing quality experience across metal fabrication, welding, assembly, machining, and paint operations. This leader will oversee all quality engineering, inspection, systems management, and customer compliance while driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate has experience managing quality teams, implementing structured quality tools, and elevating quality performance in a fast-paced heavy-fabrication environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Quality Leadership - Lead and develop Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and Document Control staff.
Quality Engineering Oversight - Manage quality engineering activities across fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and paint.
Advanced Quality Tools - Utilize PPAPs, PFMEAs/DFMEAs, QFD, process maps, and PPRs to strengthen quality planning and execution.
Weld Quality Management - Oversee weld inspection programs, WPS/PQR compliance, welder qualifications, and weld integrity standards.
Customer & Regulatory Compliance - Ensure adherence to customer specifications, contract requirements, and industry standards.
Root Cause & Corrective Action - Lead structured problem-solving using 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, and other methodologies.
Supplier Quality - Manage supplier performance, incoming inspection, and nonconformance resolution.
Audit Management - Lead internal audits and prepare for customer and third-party audits.
Quality Metrics - Track KPIs, analyze trends, and present quality performance to leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to build quality into every stage of production.

Required Qualifications
• 7+ years of manufacturing quality experience; heavy fabrication strongly preferred
• Experience managing quality teams or leading quality engineering functions
• Proficiency with PPAPs, PFMEAs/DFMEAs, QFD, process maps, and structured quality tools
• Strong understanding of welding processes, weld inspection, and WPS/PQR requirements
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication standards
• Experience with ISO-based quality systems (ISO-9001 or similar)
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
• CWI or CWE certification
• Experience in metal fabrication or OEM manufacturing
• Background implementing or improving quality management systems
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and digital quality tools
