A Day in the life

A day in the life of a Director of Purchasing at Stanley Martin is centered around leading the Purchasing Department with a strategic focus on neighborhood setup and cost management. This includes overseeing product and vendor selection, lot budget creation, contract management, scope of work enforcement, and trade partner evaluation, all in close collaboration with the Corporate Purchasing Team. The role involves reviewing and approving trade partner bids, maintaining master agreements, and driving cost efficiency through market analysis and cost-saving initiatives. The Director also leads pre-contracting efforts, facilitates neighborhood specification meetings, and validates direct costs for feasibility studies tied to new neighborhood opportunities. In partnership with the Corporate Procurement Team, they monitor commodity pricing trends and proactively address supply chain challenges. Routine departmental meetings, database oversight, and collaboration across local, regional, and corporate teams ensure operational alignment and adherence to best practices. In every responsibility, the Director represents Stanley Martin with professionalism and a steadfast commitment to the company's Mission, Vision, and Values.
