Full Job Description
About the Role

The Director of Product, Invoicing owns the commercial and strategic success of Billtrust's Invoicing product line end to end, spanning buyer-facing and supplier-facing experiences, global e-invoicing compliance, and the network that places invoices onto buyer AP portals. You will leverage AI tools and co-worker agents to drive touchless processing, exception handling, and intelligent invoicing workflows, focusing your expertise on commercial strategy, roadmap prioritization, and stakeholder alignment.

This role leads and develops a team of 2-4 Product Managers and partners closely with the Payments product team and cross-functional leaders across Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Engineering to

drive a unified strategy across Billtrust's AR platform. The Director of Product, Invoicing reports to the VP of Product, Software.

What You'll Do

Strategy & Commercial Ownership
• Own the ROI of every Invoicing bet, driving data-driven decisions tied to revenue growth, e-invoicing adoption, and retention, not just what got shipped
• Own the roadmap for global e-invoicing compliance (e.g., PEPPOL, VAT/GST, and similar country-specific mandates), treating regulatory delivery as non-negotiable
• Own and grow Billtrust's AP portal network strategy, expanding coverage and reliability of the connectivity that places supplier invoices directly onto buyer AP portals
• Partner with the Payments product team to unify Invoicing and Payments into a single AR platform strategy
• Other duties as assigned.

Team Leadership & Execution
• Lead, hire, and develop a team of 2-4 Product Managers, setting the bar for commercial rigor, craft, and execution
• Define, prioritize, and manage the Invoicing backlog across buyer-facing and supplier-facing experiences, with clear business justification behind each initiative
• Lead the annual planning baseline for Invoicing, defining tradeoffs, benefits, and impact of work

AI-Powered Product Innovation
• Drive AI-powered invoice automation, including touchless processing, exception handling, and intelligent workflows, as a commercial differentiator rather than a feature checkbox

Go-to-Market & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary commercial voice for Invoicing across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering
• Lead competitive analysis and market research to defend Billtrust's leadership position in invoicing and AR automation, and run go-to-market efforts for new Invoicing capabilities, partnering with Sales and Marketing on messaging, positioning, and enablement
• Engage directly with customers to validate the roadmap, guide adoption, and build a feedback loop that fuels continuous innovation, including quarterly travel for customer onsite meetings and events
• Monitor and report on Invoicing product KPIs, including revenue growth, e-invoicing adoption, and retention/renewal, delivering transparency and accountability across the organization

What You'll Bring

Required Skills:
• 8-10+ years of commercial and technical product management experience, including 3-5+ years directly managing and developing Product Managers
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in B2B fintech or SaaS, with direct exposure to invoicing, billing, or AR/AP workflows, including multi-currency or international invoicing requirements
• Demonstrated experience with AI-powered automation in a commercial product context (e.g., touchless processing, intelligent workflows)
• Experience with AP portal networks or invoice delivery/placement mechanics, and proven experience in go-to-market and launch strategy
• Deep commercial acumen, able to dissect revenue drivers, customer segments, pricing models, and adoption behavior, with a strong grasp of market drivers (TAM, ICP, TCP)
• Prior experience working directly with enterprise customers to translate complex needs into scalable solutions, paired with exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills

Preferred Skills:
• Working knowledge of global e-invoicing compliance regimes (e.g., PEPPOL, VAT/GST mandates)
• Demonstrated success scaling mature products and leading transformation efforts
• Has led platform or application sunsets, as well as executing complex migration programs
• Track record driving AI adoption and AI-first ways of working across a product team

The expected base salary range for this position is $178,000-$238,000 annually.

Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for additional incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our Talent Acquisition team during the interview process.

What You'll Get

At Billtrust, we believe your total rewards should reflect the impact you make.
