About the Role

Platform Science is looking for a Director of Procurement to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone to continue to build their career in Procurement, working with all parts of the organization. This position reports to the CFO. The primary work location will be daily, onsite in the San Diego, California office.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Establishes procurement practices and policies to provide visibility, appropriate controls, and enables higher quality purchasing decisions. Develops policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact across the company.
  • Lead Purchasing & sourcing team, establishing standard methodologies and development approach for the team and other teams across business units and functions.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development of key supplier relationships and developing a partnership to support program requirements, lead times and program schedules.
  • Responsible for hiring, development and retention of the procurement department.
  • Sets goals and identifies metrics measuring performance of purchasing processes.
  • In collaboration with the executive leadership team, establishes purchasing budgets and aligns departmental strategy and direction with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for leading strategic sourcing for key spend categories across the company.
  • Lead negotiation efforts and govern purchase agreements and supplier contracts with a bias for achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment, assurance of supply and process improvement. Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs.
  • Develop and maintain systematic, analytical, and results-based methods for monitoring supplier's performance and communicate these results to the suppliers and end users.
  • Provide timely and actionable information for corrective actions to be taken where necessary to both the supplier and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and utilize benchmarks and scorecards to be used for continuous improvement; creation and improvement of best practice-based processes and procedures.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and contractual obligations are met.
  • Identify and address commercial issues and lead corrective action resolution related to supply quality and delivery.
  • Evaluate customer RFQ requirements and develop strategic sourcing objectives and plans to meet engineering requirements.

Experience
  • BA or BS degree required. Procurement qualifications are a plus (e.g., APICs, ISM etc.)
  • 10+ years of working experience in procurement transformations, category management, procure- to-pay processes, core procurement methodologies and ERP systems
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills and ability to influence stakeholders and executives
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Experience in complex solicitation(s) and negotiations within multiple categories
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment subject to constant change
  • Industry knowledge of procurement best practices and market roadmaps
  • Ability to identify and implement leading-edge cost-effective procurement technology
  • Experience in achieving year over year P&L savings
  • History of building and scaling procurement teams
  • Ability to travel if necessary

Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated base salary for this role is between $173,177 and $225,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salaries across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant training and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
