About the Role

FairSquare is looking for a Director of Procurement to build and lead the company's procurement function from the ground up. You will design the strategy, define the workflows, and establish the partnerships that will govern how FairSquare sources, contracts with, and manages its vendor relationships across the enterprise.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, commercially minded professional who is equally comfortable drafting a vendor negotiation strategy and rolling up their sleeves to shepherd a contract through legal, compliance, budget, and information security review. You will report directly to the CFO and operate with significant autonomy, with the opportunity to grow a team as the function matures.

What You'll Do

Build and Own the Procurement Function
• Design and implement an enterprise-wide procurement workflow covering business intake, cross-functional review, approval routing, vendor negotiation, and contract execution.
• Establish procurement policies, standards, and governance frameworks appropriate for a regulated financial services environment.
• Create scalable processes that can support growth across FairSquare's family of lending brands.

Lead Contract Negotiation
• Serve as the primary negotiator for new vendor contracts and renewals across all business units and spend categories.
• Partner with business owners to understand commercial requirements and translate them into favorable contract terms.
• Manage contract lifecycle from initial engagement through execution, including coordination of redlines and approval sign-offs.

Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Own the intake and triage process for new procurement requests, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement from the outset.
• Coordinate with Legal/Contracts, Compliance, Information Security, and Finance throughout the review and approval process.
• Act as the connective tissue between business sponsors and functional reviewers to keep deals moving without sacrificing rigor.

Manage Vendor Ecosystem
• Maintain a centralized view of the company's vendor portfolio, contract terms, renewal dates, and spend.
• Proactively identify renewal risks and opportunities, including cost optimization and renegotiation targets.
• Establish vendor performance expectations and support relationship management where procurement is the primary interface.

What You Bring
• 8+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or contract management, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end processes.
• Proven track record negotiating complex vendor agreements across technology, services, and operational spend categories.
• Experience designing or significantly improving procurement workflows, ideally in a build or turnaround context.
• Strong understanding of contract structure, risk allocation, and the interplay between commercial and legal terms.
• Ability to navigate cross-functional review processes involving legal, compliance, and information security without losing momentum.
• Comfortable operating independently in a lean environment while managing multiple concurrent priorities.
• Financial services or similarly regulated industry experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree required; CPM, CPSM, or JD a plus.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 90 days:
• You have conducted a full inventory of existing vendor contracts, renewal dates, and current process gaps.
• You have mapped a proposed procurement workflow and secured alignment from key stakeholders in Legal, Compliance, InfoSec, and Finance.
• You are actively managing at least one vendor negotiation.

In your first year:
• A formal procurement policy and workflow is documented, approved, and in use across the enterprise.
• Contract renewal visibility has improved materially - no significant renewals auto-renewing without commercial review.
• Measurable cost savings or value creation from renegotiated or newly structured vendor agreements.
