JOB SUMMARY

The Director of People Enablement & Learning Development serves as a strategic leader responsible for developing the consulting workforce's capabilities to successfully operate in client facing environments. This role leads the design, development, and delivery of training programs that strengthen consulting, selling, negotiation, and cross selling skills, while also identifying capability gaps and creating solutions that support long term team development and career progression.

This leader collaborates closely with business leaders, HR Business Partners, and subject matter experts to translate business priorities into development strategies and scalable learning solutions. They bring deep expertise in learning, capability building, consulting excellence, and organizational development practices, leveraging best in class tools and methodologies to upskill talent globally

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Capability Development
  • Serve as the senior functional lead for consulting capability development, defining the strategy and multi year roadmap for training, skill building, and progression across the consulting organization.
  • Conduct capability assessments and training needs analyses to identify skill gaps in client engagement, opportunity sourcing, solutioning, selling, negotiation, and cross selling.
  • Translate business priorities into targeted development initiatives that enhance team readiness for client interaction and business generation.
  • Design and deploy a cohesive capability framework that aligns skills, behaviors, and tools to career growth and performance expectations.

Learning Program Design, Development & Facilitation
  • Lead the creation, coordination, and facilitation of training programs delivered globally through in person, virtual, blended, and digital learning modalities.
  • Oversee the development of learning materials, playbooks, tools, and resources that support both foundational and advanced consulting and selling skills.
  • Utilize best in class learning practices to deliver engaging workshops, simulations, roleplays, and learning journeys.
  • Ensure training content is current, globally relevant, scalable, and grounded in industry best practices.

Consulting Excellence: Client Facing, Selling & Growth Skills
  • Build programs that elevate consulting craft, including problem solving, strategic thinking, storytelling, client communication, stakeholder management, and advisory skills.
  • Develop and implement learning solutions focused on opportunity identification, sourcing, pitching, value articulation, negotiating, and expanding work within existing client accounts.
  • Partner with commercial leaders to reinforce sales methodologies and ensure alignment between consulting capability development and business development strategy.

Organizational Development & Business Partnership
  • Act as an internal consultant to business leaders, partnering to assess performance gaps and build tailored development solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Lead team and organizational development initiatives that drive high performance, collaboration, and strong client service standards.
  • Provide coaching, tools, and support to people managers to strengthen team development, feedback capability, and readiness for growth.

Program Management, Measurement & Governance
  • Manage a portfolio of complex development initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Establish mechanisms to measure program effectiveness, including capability uplift, behavioral adoption, and business impact.
  • Maintain learning documentation, LMS inputs, training records, and reporting to support compliance and internal/external audit needs.
  • Evaluate and manage external vendors, tools, platforms, and partnerships to support program delivery.

Team Leadership (If role has direct report(s))
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to team members supporting learning, facilitation, instructional design, and capability-building programs.
  • Set team goals, oversee delivery standards, and ensure a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years (Director) / 12+ years (Senior Director) of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating training for consulting teams or other client facing professional services roles.
  • Strong expertise in learning methodologies, instructional design, coaching, facilitation, and capability building.
  • Proven track record of identifying skill gaps and building impactful, scalable development programs.
  • Experience creating or delivering training in selling, negotiating, client engagement, or business development skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders across a matrixed global environment.
  • Strong project and program management capability with experience leading complex, multi stakeholder initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts and deliver executive ready materials.

Preferred
• Master's degree in Organizational Development, HR, Learning, I/O Psychology, or related field.
• Experience working in consulting, professional services, healthcare, or life sciences environments.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $X to $Y. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
