About the role:The Director of Operations is the site leader for our two-building Orchard Park, NY medical device campus, with full P&L ownership across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, facilities, EHS and administration. Site leadership reports directly into this role, with Quality as a dotted-line partner and HR and Finance as business partners. This is a hands-on role for a leader who runs a plant with structure and cadence - stabilizing daily flow, strengthening on-time delivery, and aligning Operations, Engineering and Quality around shared performance goals. Longer term, you'll drive successful product launches, deepen customer relationships, and build a predictable, high-performing operation.
Comparable candidates have led organizations of 100+ people including indirect reports, serving multiple customers in a multi-million-dollar operation.
Responsibilities- Deliver sustainable profitability, EBITDA growth, and strong returns on invested capital by establishing and executing a long-term strategic vision for the site.
- Establish and sustain daily management discipline - clear structure, roles, priorities, goals and a daily/weekly/monthly operating cadence that makes site performance predictable
- Achieve year-over-year improvements in quality performance by aligning and integrating Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Continuous Improvement, Human Resources, Planning, New Product Introduction, and Quality functions around shared operational objectives.
- Build and sustain a high-performance Lean culture that drives measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, quality, reliability, and employee engagement through continuous improvement, standardized processes, visual management, and structured problem solving.
- Ensure long-term operational competitiveness by developing and executing strategies across supply chain, manufacturing engineering, automation, continuous improvement, human resources, and new product introduction that enable world-class products, services, and operational performance.
- Accelerate profitable growth through successful product launches by minimizing business risk, reducing time-to-profit, managing technical uncertainty, and ensuring effective customer communication throughout the New Product Introduction process.
- Deliver financial commitments through effective planning, forecasting, and operational execution, ensuring the site can adapt to changing demand, product mix, and business conditions while optimizing investments in people, training, technology, and capital equipment.
- Strengthen customer partnerships and business growth by supporting customer solutions, responsiveness, service excellence, and commercial opportunities within the facility.
- Build a strong leadership pipeline and high-performance workforce by attracting, developing, retaining, and managing talent while reinforcing a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous development.
- Maintain a safe, compliant, and quality-focused operation that consistently meets regulatory requirements, environmental standards, operational policies, and Quality Management System expectations.
- Contribute to the overall success of the business by leading strategic and operational initiatives that support changing organizational priorities and long-term growth objectives.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, including responsibility for operational performance, financial results, and team development.
- 5+ years of P&L management experience in a complex, technically driven manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership of an organization of 100+ employees, including indirect reports, across multiple customers and a multi-million-dollar operation.
- Proven ability to build high-performing teams, develop talent, and foster a positive, engaged culture.
- Strong knowledge of complex manufacturing operations, including machining, fabrication, metals processing, and product assembly.
- Working knowledge of capacity planning, supply chain management, and manufacturing technologies.
- Experience leading Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable business results.
- Medical device manufacturing experience strongly required (regulated environment); working knowledge of FDA GMP, ISO 13485, and 510(k).
- Strong communication, customer relationship, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications- MBA or advanced degree, or equivalent advanced business or technical experience.
- Contract manufacturing experience; combined CM and OEM background strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, or commercialization activities.
- Swiss CNC and five-axis machining experience
- Machine shop manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term operational strategies and evaluate capital investments.
- Ability to analyze and communicate complex technical, operational, and financial information to diverse audiences.

Compensation:We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $170k-$200k annual salary. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
