Position Description

Pay Grade: Manager 6

The Director of Operations provides operational leadership for the Communications and Marketing division, ensuring effective planning, coordination, budgeting, systems, and execution of division initiatives. This role focuses on operational excellence, workflow management, policy development, and performance optimization in support of the College's strategic goals.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Independenlty leads operational planning, coordination, project management, and execution for the Communications and Marketing division

*Oversees project intake, prioritization, timelines, tactics, and workflow management to support division initiatives

*Develops, implements, and maintains operational systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, accountability, and collaboration

*Responsible for the development, management, and monitoring of division budgets, operational policies, and procedures

*Coordinates workflows and operational processes that support content delivery across multiple digital and print communications vehicles

Serves as an operational liaison with other College divisions to support marketing, advertising, and communications objectives
Serves as brand and licensing liason with the college's law firm and brand license agency

Tracks performance metrics, timelines, and resource utilization to support data-informed decision-making

Oversees procurement activities for the division, including coordinating purchase requests, managing vendor quotes and contracts, ensuring compliance with College procurement policies and procedures

Provides operational support and analysis to division leadership as needed

Reports directly to the Executive Director for Communications and Marketing and provides support/assistance to the President's O?ce and the Vice President & Chief Communications and Marketing Officer

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong operational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, timelines, and stakeholders within tight deadlines

Ability to analyze work?ows, systems, and processes and make recommendations for continuous improvement

Pro?cient in internet use for communications-related systems, tools, and research

Pro?cient with MS O?ce products including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to represent the College positively and interact professionally with community leaders, media representatives, and citizens

Ability to work calmly and professionally under deadline-driven or emergency

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related ?eld

Five years of progressive responsibility and experience in communications, marketing, operations, or related professional environments
Preferred

Project management certification, such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent.

Experience working with a purchasing system such as the NC Procurement System

Budgeting and/or accounting experience

Advanced skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
